Classic Electioneering: Now Includes Releasing Candidate's SSN

Update: Is this old news? The date in the filename says "2006," and the metadata says it was created on 2006-09-17T19:09:44-08:00.

From the looks of things, this is dirty politics being executed against her run for the governor back in 2006, not anything that's recently been "released."

I'm still disgusted by it, though. This type of low-life chicanery has absolutely no business in an "honest" electoral process such as ours. Unless the Democratic Party of Alaska would rather run their campaign in a more "democratic" state, that is.

Original Article

It may be old news, but it's still "new" to somebody.

If you were of the opinion that the Democratic party couldn't possibly look any more desperate, I'm here to inform you that the bar has been lowered yet again.

Who would've guessed that HOPE and CHANGE now apparently includes releasing your opponent's SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER to the press?

The Politico has received an opposition research file from the Alaska Democrats. You can read it in PDF here.

In the file, the Democrats have released Sarah Palin's social security number minus the last four digits. Also tied to the information are her various home addresses.

I'm not going to steal the Drudge Siren™ or Ace's Flaming Skull™ for this, so allow me to use my local alternative instead (with my thanks, as always, to dpud):

Oh crap!

The PDF file is cached here. It should be noted that the file includes her personal address and entire address history, to boot.

The Democratic party is a disgrace to our country.

Not that this is a surprise to much of anyone around these parts.

Classic Electioneering

Apparently it now includes releasing a candidate's social security number and the addresses of her homes. Which candidate? Here's a hint: the above link came via an email from the Anchoress, where's it's Wall-to-Wall "Palinsanity!"...

*I looked through the PDF. Did you 'X' out the SSN? If not, it's basically the same as when you get your paycheck or DD advice and your employer masks your number. As to the addresses and vehicle IDs, I don't see how it's relevant to the campaign, but I don't see how it's a venal, mean-spirited thing to do. Can't you get anyone's address / deed history by a little research? Isn't that public info?
