Bailout or BUYout? Anyone Care? **Update**
**Update below the fold**
From Yahoo News:
Typical, a simple nationalization bill to takeover banks and mortgage companies has swelled with the likes of pork and illegal contributions to illegal groups like ACORN. If liberal Sen Lindsay Graham is cautious about this thing, what does that tell you how bad this is?
From Yahoo News:
A week ago, it totaled just three pages — the White House's request for $700 billion to rescue tottering financial institutions by buying their devalued mortgage-related assets.
...
By Friday, after almost a week of marathon talks between Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and key lawmakers in both parties, the working version was up to 102 pages.
Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., the House Financial Services Committee's chairman, was optimistic Friday that a final agreement could be reached by Sunday.

And, if the flaming liberal Rep BARNEY Frank is optimistic about a bill passing, should the American people be worried or just scared? Even Sen Harry Reid knows the people do not want this buyout, but he is pushing for it and spewing lies about Sen McCain's and the House Republican's efforts to craft an economically reasonable plan. At least there should be a cut, or a tax-holiday, on capital gains and corporate taxes.
[UPDATE:] It would seem that the bill is now up to 451 pages and the senate version now contains tax-cut extentions for things like Wool Research and toy wooden arrows for kids. And, interesting enough, for something called "Domestic Production Activities in Puerto Rico (Sec. 312)". Are these tax cuts for helping pay for Puerto Rican maids?
Everyone is saying that this will pass now. How about capital gains tax cuts? How about gas-tax cuts? How about corporate tax cuts? Why extend tax cuts to the District of Columbia and auto racing tracks????
The Drudge Report has this bit of teaser:
"Senate 'bailout bill' demands insurance companies 'provide coverage for mental health treatment'... MORE"
And.... if George Soros is all for this bill.... you know it can't be a good thing for America as a whole.
REID: Is this pleasant work? No, it's not pleasant work. Look what's happening with the calls coming into our offices and the e-mails. People are very unhappy with what we're doing, but we believe we have an obligation to the country and that is Wall Street and Main Street.
