True Cost of Saving Energy
So, you think you are a good steward of the Earth? You think you do your best to save energy and you think you will be rewarded for it? I bet some of you think that if you cut back on your energy you can save money.
You are sadly mistaken. Problem is, you do not control the politicians. And it is the politicians that control how much you are charged for your energy usage.
When gas rose to over $4.00 a gallon (avg) recently, everyone cut back on their gasoline purchases. That in turn led to a decrease in tax revenues entering the coffers of the Treasury. So, guess what the politicians did to thank you for using less petroleum? They raised your taxes.
You may be able to do with less gas for a while, but the new Socialist government form of government we have been blessed with could never be expected to do the same.
You think you can save money right now during tight times by cutting back on your home energy usage?
Don't count on it! Read and learn as the same insane policies that ruined our gasoline industry are now applied to your home's energy bill:

And this is not in the liberal wacko land of New York City or Los Angeles. This is occurring in the heartland of America. Missouri !!!
Yes, while Missouri has been leaning awfully liberal lately, this is still what is considered the "south". This just does not make sense to me that something like this can happen in this region. What am I talking about, you ask? Take a gander at this. And, this article is full of interesting and juicy anti-freedom tidbits.
YEP!! Getting a fee for using less energy!! But.. but.. who would support such a commie-like system?
Well, knowing that the receivers of the new fee, the politicians who get support from the utilities, and even the governor-appointed "consumer advocate" are in full support of this fee is a great load off of my mind. And here I thought they didn't have the people's interests in mind.
A charge to promote using less energy? So, they promote a plan that pushes consumers to use less energy. And, to recoup that drop in revenue, they charge you a fee for using less energy.
Sounds just like our government control at work, doesn't it?
While this sounds wrong, you say, it is not that bad? Really? You think they will stop there? Guess again my friends...
If it works one place and no one complains, they will shove it on to many others. And, then start bragging about it.
Proud to raise taxes and fees of the common man.... Is this the "CHANGE" you were voting for?
So, what do we, as the little common man, get out of this rate hike besides thinner wallets? I am so glad you asked...
FREE THERMOSTATS AND BIG BROTHER CONTROL OVER THAT THERMOSTAT!!!
So, they are going to control your AC usage during peak demand times? When would that be exactly? During the hottest parts of the day and/or right after you come home to a hot house, right? Guess what? Sorry Charlie! You can't now. You want to stay cool when the sun is at its peak heating like everyone else? NOPE. That is peak demand time. You have to cut back.
After a long drive home in your car you want to tun your AC on when you get inside? NOPE. That is also peak demand time because everyone else is coming home and doing the same thing. But, YOU have to cut either cut back or delay your cooling.
And you have to know that this will not suffice for just the summer time. They will also want to control your heating during the winter months as well.
So tell me, all this time you have been doing your Greenest to wash your clothes in a cup of water during 2am in order to not use energy during peak hours, you only shower every other day at midnight and even drive a Prius to save energy and the planet, how does it feel to know that it was all for naught?
How does it feel to know that you will now be charged a fee for conserving energy? How does it feel to have allowed BIG BROTHER in to your house to tell you WHEN you can cool or heat your house?
Are you scared yet? This kind of commie socialism doesn't happen overnight folks. You have let this happen over the last few decades by doing absolutely nothing but allow them push and push that "green agenda" on to you and everybody else. You gave them this control.
Now, are you going to take it back or are you going to all them to take more of your freedoms away?

JEFFERSON CITY | Some Missouri residents and businesses soon could see a new charge on their electric bills — a fee for using less energy.
YEP!! Getting a fee for using less energy!! But.. but.. who would support such a commie-like system?
Though it might seem illogical, the new energy efficiency charge has support from utilities, most lawmakers, the governor, environmentalists and even the state’s official utility consumer advocate.
Well, knowing that the receivers of the new fee, the politicians who get support from the utilities, and even the governor-appointed "consumer advocate" are in full support of this fee is a great load off of my mind. And here I thought they didn't have the people's interests in mind.
The charge covers the cost of utilities’ efforts to promote energy efficiency and cut power use.

... the commission last week approved a program in which St. Louis-based AmerenUE can offer credits to businesses that voluntarily shut down or scale back their electricity use during peak demand. AmerenUE will be able to recoup the cost for the program that starts Thursday by increasing the rates it charges business customers.
Kansas City Power & Light Co. already has 19 energy efficiency and demand-reduction programs, said Chuck Caisley, the company’s senior director of public affairs. He said the Public Service Commission is allowing the company to recoup up to $50 million of the programs’ costs under a rate plan in effect through 2010.

When lawmakers adjourned in mid-May, Nixon listed the little-publicized energy legislation as among his proudest accomplishments, describing it as a “good, good start on an energy policy” to be developed by his Department of Natural Resources.

One of the company’s more popular energy-saving initiatives has provided free programmable thermostats to about 34,000 residential customers in Missouri and Kansas. KCP&L can remotely control the devices to reduce the frequency at which air conditioners run during peak demand times. The power company overrode customers’ air conditioners four times last year and twice so far this summer, Caisley said.
