Another Reason Royalty Should Not InBreed

I really had to read this statement several times. It blew me right out of my chair.

Capitalism and consumerism have brought the world to the brink of economic and environmental collapse, the Prince of Wales has warned in a grandstand speech which set out his concerns for the future of the planet.

The heir to the throne told an audience of industrialists and environmentalists at St James's Palace last night that he had calculated that we have just 96 months left to save the world.

And in a searing indictment on capitalist society, Charles said we can no longer afford consumerism and that the "age of convenience" was over.

I.. I... I'm speechless. This man whose own fortune is based on the ability of his minions to attain wealth now says that capitalism is ruining the world and the environment. He also blames consumerism for this world's economic and environmental failures.

What is consumerism? Wiki (the truth of the galaxy) suggests the definition is: "the equation of personal happiness with consumption and the purchase of material possessions." And ... "refers to economic policies placing emphasis on consumption. In an abstract sense, it is the belief that the free choice of consumers"

In other words, he is against freedom of choice an the free ability of people to choose what they want to buy WHEN they want to buy it. He states that freedom of choice to buy what you need and want will kill you and destroy the Earth.

Recall, this is the man that wanted to turn all of Britain's wine in to biofuel for his own personal fleet of golf-carts.

My quandary is whether he is advocating socialism or tyranny.

Delivering the annual Richard Dimbleby lecture, Charles said that without "coherent financial incentives and disincentives" we have just 96 months to avert "irretrievable climate and ecosystem collapse, and all that goes with it."

So, consumerism leads to global warming which leads to environmental armageddon? At least he is on the same time-line that Mr. (I hate myself) Al Gore. Al Gore believed we only had 10 years left to save the planet back in 2006.

*Interesting that this idiocy whould be spouting from one who has spent all his life enjoying "conveniences." Furthermore, I'll wager that he doesn't plan to give up any of those "conveniences," but rather to force us peons to do so.
