To Raise, or Not To Raise; Also: Things That Would End a Republican's Career

Creigh Deeds, the somewhat less than intelligent candidate for the Virginia Governorship, hosts a post-debate wrapup session with reporters that is pretty stunning in its own right.

Let's see if, after watching this video, you can figure out if Creigh is for or against raising taxes. (Of course, if you follow Brian's Rule of Democrats, you already know the answer to that.)

Notice also the statement Creigh makes which would bring a Republican's career immediately to a halt. At 1:46, his frustrated response to a female reporter:

"I think I've made myself clear young lady."

Anyone know what NOW's opinion of this little outburst is? (There's a shorter version of his outburst over here, if you want to send it to them. I know I will.)

Thanks to BVBL for the video, and Roanoke County Republicans for pointing out the career-ender.

Others discussing Creigh's Confusion: The Lee Brothers, Bearing Drift, Sun Versus Wind, Shaun Kenney, Below the Beltway, On the Right, Red NoVA, Yankee Phillip, StrictlyVA, BVBL.

I'll add more links tomorrow morning.

As of 10:30 this evening, I still have not gotten word back from VANOW about this presumed outrage. The silence, as they say, is deafening.

Thanks for the link, Bob's Blogger!

*I hope Deeds wins. After listening to a handful of McDonnell's answers in the debate today, I really don't want another POS GOP member in a position of power to reduce the credibility of the ideology Republicans pretend to follow.

*Jonathan = moby

BTW Deeds plainly says "I think I've made myself clear young lady" .. no "very"

Creigh Deeds .. "Straight talk on Taxes!"

*I'm not sure that Jonathan is anything other than someone expressing their genuine thoughts on the current state of the GOP. And Jonathan, I understand those sentiments completely -- I've expressed my own frustration at some of the wishy-washy types we have in the Virginia GOP. (Or at least, in the Fairfax County GOP.)

That being said, I would much rather have a candidate that's at least slightly responsible fiscally in office than one who can't even clearly express his budgetary plans (or lack thereof) in front of a camera. Deeds doesn't inspire any confidence at all that he's got a clue what he's doing.

(Thanks for the correction, Yojimbo! I've corrected my quote in the text above. :-) )

Regards,
Brian

*Deeds seems like a Gomer Pyle southern type.

*Dunno what or who moby is... I'm assuming my identity was mistaken for someone else's.

Regarding the "slightly responsible fiscally" promise of McDonnell's leadership - I don't think we'll see it. Looking through his issues on his website, all I see is spend, expand, spend, and expand some more... with a sprinkling of keeping taxes low. I will admit though, that I am looking at it through puke colored glasses.

And his commercials are god-awful. "Sure son! I love playing football in my fresh pressed button up shirt and suit pants! I'm a great father!" Oh well. All I can do is complain. I still hope Deeds wins. The more jack-ass Democrats (and less jack-ass Republicans) we can have on display, the better.

*He said, "I don't take pledges."

That should disqualify him right there, since you have to pledge to uphold the constitution when elected. Right? Or is that just a federal office thing?
