Oil Everywhere: We Dare You To Use It

Recall during the last presidential campaign that then candidate Obama threatened the coal industry with such heavy taxes and fines that he would drive them out of business. He has also made statements that he wants us to move away from "foreign" oil.

Well, seeing how "foreign" oil is nearly 60% of our oil consumption, I find that nearly impossible to accomplish. Especially in light of the fact that the Greens and this administration are very anti-oil. How can you drill for more local oil when drilling rights are being denied? How can you bring in more oil, when you allow China and Cuba to suck all of your oil out of the Gulf of Mexico before the US? Despite the record find of oil deep in the Gulf.

And, despite another record find of oil in the deserts of California, do you really think that Obama and his caudry of environmental hacks would allow them to start drilling? Heck, even Californian's have stopped their GIANT solar projects recently.

It is almost like they really want oil and gas prices to stay artificially high. You know, like the mullahs of OPEC do.

The 12-member group, which pumps 40 percent of the world's oil, has cut its total output by 4.2 million bpd in several stages since September last year in a bid to drive oil prices higher.

Khatibi also said OPEC members were unhappy with the current level of oil prices, which has dropped from above $147 a barrel in July 2008 to around $70. "... they believe the price should be higher," he said.

If we were allowed to tap all of our natural resources and access all of our new finds over the last few years (15 years at least) we could actually be sitting fairly pretty right now.

But, how many of you want to bet that Occidental will not allowed to drill for their new oil? Oil that they have been searching for over the last 10 years (but not according to the anti-oil people, that research doesn't cost any money at all).

And if they try, the government will just fine them in to bankruptcy.

Government: Here to protect you.
