Q. What do Yasser Arafat, Al Gore, and Barack Obama have in common?

A terrorist leader, a dullard, and a do-nothing have more in common than you might think. Especially now that the do-nothing has won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize, despite the fact that he has yet to accomplish anything at all.

My favorite part of this morning's announcement is who Reuters decided to go to in order to get a note of criticism over the award:

The Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip and opposes a peace treaty with Israel, said the award was premature at best.

"Obama has a long way to go still and lots of work to do before he can deserve a reward," said Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri. "Obama only made promises and did not contribute any substance to world peace. And he has not done anything to ensure justice for the sake of Arab and Muslim causes."

Once again, the World's Most Irrelevant Award proves how worthless it truly is.

Be sure to hop over to these other guys for additional commentary: Dan Riehl (who broke the news via my inbox), Confederate Yankee, Jules Crittenden and more to come, I'm sure.

The Hidden Costs of ObamaCare

Better late than never I guess.

Back in September, around the 10th, David Axelrod of Obama's administration talked to Wolf Blitzer on CNN. You have probably seen the video already. Hot Air had a post about it. Rush Limbaugh tore David a new one on his radio show on September 22. Everyone is calling it a lie. It may very well be.

Allow me to quote the key point beyond the break. Continue reading »

Marxism in Action: Redistribution Illustrated!

Gateway Pundit brings us the story of a Venezuelan farmer who, after eking out a farm-life existence for the past 30 years, is unfortunate enough to have his land confiscated by Hugo Chávez's marxist thugs. Fortunately for us, he was mindful enough to capture the whole thing on video, so the world can truly see radical leftist policies at face value.

Thank you, YouTube!

As an aside, it's important to note that Hugo Chávez heartily endorses Barack Obama's policies. And also that Barack Obama's political appointees heartily endorse Hugo Chávez.

Comforting, ain't it?

Michelle: Those With Health Insurance Are Blessed

Rush covered this a while back, but I am just now trying to catch up with some news after I moved to an apartment 2 weeks ago.

Obama had his girdle out pushing his health care plan in front of a gaggle of women.

She recites a story from her recent past in order to prove that having insurance saved her girls life.

I will never forget the time eight years ago when Sasha was four months, that she would not stop crying -- and she was not a crier, so we knew something was wrong. So we fortunately were able to take her to our pediatrician that next morning. He examined her and said, "Somethin's wrong." We didn't know what, but he told us that she could have meningitis. So we were terrified. He said, "Get to the emergency room right away."

I think about, "What on earth would we have done if we had not had insurance."

Read that again. Let it soak in.

My rant is on page 2. Continue reading »

Driving Mr. Duncey

I'd much rather see either of these gentlemen standing in front of a moving car.

Gov't: You Have A Right To Buy That Gun - We Have A Right To Take It Back

... now that we know who you are, where you live, and that you own a gun.

Whoever said that gun registration could lead to gun confiscation?

Who was it that USED IT? Yeah, I bet you think I will do the obligatory point to Hitler and the Nazi gun-confiscation actions.

GOTCHA. I'm actually going to point to the liberal's love-nest. Toronto.

I like the quote from the Police Chief:
Targeting people who had registered their guns is a preventative measure, said Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair.

Preventative of what? What does taking legally purchased guns from law-abiding people prevent?

Not like this could ever happen in America - the land of the 2nd Amendment. Right? RIGHT?!?!?

Not even in a very liberal city like New Orleans.

Maybe if they would focus their efforts on those who have illegal weapons and give them something to turn those guns in, they might actually get on the people's good sides.

Save Money - Go To Jail

Yep. That's the ruling that has recently been made over the regulations in the ObamaCare bill.

Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) received a handwritten note Thursday from Joint Committee on Taxation Chief of Staff Tom Barthold confirming the penalty for failing to pay the up to $1,900 fee for not buying health insurance.

Violators could be charged with a misdemeanor and could face up to a year in jail or a $25,000 penalty, Barthold wrote on JCT letterhead. He signed it "Sincerely, Thomas A. Barthold."

Seriously? Jail time for wanting to save money because you yourself have deemed yourself healthy enough to not want to spend your hard-earned money on useless "health" insurance?

Heh: Barack Obama's Reverse Diversity Czar

I'm guessing that Mark Lloyd, Obama's appointment as FCC Chief Diversity Officer, just might have misinterpreted MLK Jr's infamous speech a touch:

The conversation about how we communicate with each other despite being aware of the clear impressions that I know that I make in rooms that I walk into, when people hear my voice, is a challenge. How much do I express the... I think really pretty obvious complaints of black Americans in rooms full of whites.

This... there's nothing more difficult than this. Because we have really, truly good white people in important positions. And the fact of the matter is that there are a limited number of those positions. And unless we are conscious of the need to have more people of color, gays, other people in those positions we will not change the problem. We're in a position where you have to say who is going to step down so someone else can have power.

"... so long as the person stepping down is white, of course."

Closed with an unspoken "Honky" for good measure, I'm sure.

When Good Intentions Fail

Or when the truth becomes apparent.

Sen Max Baucus introduced his version of the Health Reform Bill. No one liked it. Not even the Socialist Democrats. They claimed that it didn't take over enough of the health care from individual citizens. Weak rhino Republicans didn't like it because it was not their bill.

It would seem, that Sen Baucus' intention to create a happy medium of a bill has now failed. He has succumbed to pressure from the Obama Democrats. Or, did the real version of the bill get out.

The chairman of the Senate Finance Committee was revising his sweeping health care bill Monday to address serious concerns from fellow Democrats and a key Republican about insurance costs, part of his ongoing struggle to deliver on President Barack Obama's top domestic priority.

Yeah, who sold out? Or, who came out of their shell?

Zelaya Back in Honduras?

Fausta Wertz has the scoop—It would seem the Obama Administration has reversed its policy on non-interference in other countries' affairs. And, as is typical of them, it does so in a way that hurts American interests abroad.

Now that's change you can sell your children's future with!

Of Sock-Puppets and Stupidity

Sorry for blogging about blogging again, but it would seem that Little Green Footballs has sunk to astounding new lows.

After complaining constantly about leftist infiltrators coming to LGF to "slur" the site with derogatory comments, what do you suppose Charles Johnson's reaction to one of his own commenters (who happens to be an LGF administrator) doing the exact same thing to another blog?

If you guessed he looks the other way and condones (or, to use his exact wording, "understands") the Moby-ism he used to condemn, pat yourself on the back.

No matter how "vile" they claim the comments at Hot Air were, Killgore Trout was the only person there who thought that spamming a thread with "the N-word" (literally) was a good idea. And despite Charles' professed ignorance on the whole matter, using "the N-word" is far worse than "wookie." Which is as "bad" as the Hot Air thread had gotten before Killgore showed up.

What's in HR3200? "health Secretary SERVICES REQUIRE"

At Moonbattery's behest (and Nick'd, too)--Here's a word cloud of the HR3200 text:

I processed the text in the same manner as before, substituting variations of the word "require" with REQUIRE and omitting common bill language like "Section," "Paragraph," and the like. The results are equally as silly as the Baucus Amendment, of course.

My full edited text, which I obtained from THOMAS, is available here, if you want to try it yourself.

Hate Speech in the House: A Primer

Komissar Blogunov lays out the evidence of what thoughtcrimes rise to the level of hatred in the People's House of Representatives.

Look at the entire Democratic half of the House standing to interrupt George Bush's speech. And compare that to the outrage over a single shout that most people didn't even hear the first time around.

A crime clearly worthy of our government's highest contempt.

Senior White House Aide Calls 9/12 Protests "Wrong"

So, pretty much, we get to see that the White House's official take on the weekend's big rally is that it is not representative of the nation's mood:

A top White House aide said Sunday that the thousands of conservative "tea party" demonstrators who marched in Washington on Saturday were "wrong" because they represent only a fringe section of society.

"I don't think it's indicative of the nation's mood," David Axelrod, the president's top adviser, said on CBS' "Face the Nation." "My message to them is, they're wrong."

It's probably worth mentioning at this point that David Axelrod, currently one of Barack Obama's top advisors, had cut his teeth in the political world as a self-described king of Astroturfing... which is the black art of setting up phony support for a corporation's product or a political issue.

Because it would seem that even the once-conservative Washington Times didn't see fit to point that out. Nor, I'm sure, did C-BS News.

I'm sure that his past history of propping up fringe groups at his clients' protests has nothing to do with his current opinion in the least.

Thanks for the link, Dan!
