Muslim council leaders have sparked outrage after trying to ban all councillors eating in meetings until sunset during the holy month of Ramadan.

Politicians have hit out after the move to impose hardline Islamic rules on non-Muslim colleagues throughout September.

The bombshell has been dropped by Labour chiefs of the notoriously loony Tower Hamlets Council in east London.

Not to pick nits or anything, but I am reminded that the United Kingdom does in fact have an official State religion, regardless of the fact that the short-sighted buffoons of the Labour Party have unofficially outlawed it.

For some reason, I can't possibly imagine the BBC broadcasting sentiments similar to this about Nazi Germany back during World War II. Why, then, am I not surprised to see them apply such light-hearted new standards to Islamic fascists?

A BBC presenter has attacked coverage of Afghanistan's ongoing war, claiming TV reporters are not covering the 'humanity of the Taliban'.

Lyse Doucet, a presenter and correspondent on BBC World News, was speaking at a discussion of TV reporting of the war in the country.

In the new documentary, a female reporter attends prayer meetings at an important British mosque which claims to be dedicated to moderation and "dialogue with other faiths".

Hundreds of Christian theology students have been living in tents since a mob of angry Muslim neighbors stormed their campus last month wielding bamboo spears and hurling Molotov cocktails.

One Man's Protest

Even though Reuters seems to be using the term "protest" in captions [like this one], I'm still pretty sure that what we're looking at would more formally be described as a "riot."

There's still quite a bit of that old-fashioned "civil unrest" going on. And, as far as I've always known, it continues to be the duty of the government to quell such unrest.

So why is it that we're trying to downplay the actions of the rioters, thus undermining the Indian government's duty to end the violence?

Could it be that Reuters is so in love with the mythology of protesting for "social justice" that it can't recognize a genuine riot when it sees one?

Or does it think that newsreaders around the world won't know the difference?

Intestinal Fortitude, Italian-Style

What would you say if I were to report that the Grand Mosque of Córdoba, the cultural center of Islam in medieval Europe, was to be transformed into a Christian chapel?

Personally, I think we'd be seeing the usual eruptions, and the backers of such plans would quickly back down.

When this happens in reverse, however, and an historic Christian church is transformed into an Islamic structure, the usual pattern of events is that the transformation does continue, and anyone who expresses opposition to it is tarred as a "xenophobe."

Imagine my surprise, then, to read that in one particular instance, this has not happened. A local group in Genoa, Italy started planning to turn a palace built by Crusaders into a "multi-faith" prayer center, which would be used by the "three" monotheistic faiths on alternating days.

Unlike previous incidents like this, however, the Italians have said "no" quite boisterously. In fact, I couldn't say it better myself, so allow me to quote directly:

What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

In England, a country which has the Anglican Church as its official State religion, there is no mandatory religious education in the public education system. There are, however, optional religious courses for those who wish to learn more about the English faith.

All that is about to change, though. The "Communities" Secretary (a euphemism for "Secretary of Diversity," one imagines) has proposed requiring mandatory education about Islam for all students in every State school:

State school pupils are set to be taught Islamic traditions and values in compulsory citizenship lessons.

The move—part of a package of initiatives announced by Communities Secretary Hazel Blears yesterday - is designed to curb extremism.

How's that old proverb go? "A nation that forgets its history is doomed to repeat it?"

For England, that probably isn't going to work out so well.

The Associated Press Promotes Islam

Could my dear friends over at the AP be publishing more pro-Islamic material on their "news" wire?

That's the only conclusion I can come to after seeing this picture, anyway.

I understand that it's neat that we're experiencing a solar eclipse in parts of the world right now, but is it really newsworthy to send out a nicely-cropped promotion of the domination of Islam on the newswire?

By the way, is that an adjective I see there? Because, as far as I can tell, "Grand" is not in the title of that particular mosque.

Update: I reckon this photo means the AP promotes Orthodox Christianity as well. So, maybe these photos are intended to be artistic in nature? IF so, why are they being transmitted on the editorial wires, rather than on the non-news-oriented artistic images feed?

Update: Weasel Zippers has suggested that Reuters has been promoting Islam too, albeit subliminally. It could be, but I think the AP photo I linked up at the top of this article is far more overtly proselytizing.

Seriously, the whole notion of crime and punishment is horrendously skewed in Her Majesty's Kingdom: (h/t Jihad Watch)

In the UK, two British Muslims accused of plotting to blow up an airliner have admitted conspiring to commit public nuisance.

They have pleaded guilty to distributing al Qaida-style videos threatening suicide bomb attacks in Britain.

Last week, five of their co-defendants admitted the same charge.

To be fair, blowing up a plane would be one heck of a public nuisance, what with all of the burning wreckage and cleaning up to do.

Who knows? Maybe the Crown just thinks that such a nuisance is the cost of living in the modern age.

A top Shia cleric in Iran has said that unveiled women are a serious danger to Iranian society as they cause men to be "transformed into beasts".

"Women without the veil are a danger that the authorities underestimate," said Hojatolislam Seyyed Ahmad Elmalhoda, a powerful cleric who leads the Friday prayers in Mashad, a site considered sacred for Shia Muslims as it houses the shrine of Imam Reza.

"This situation is very serious in that if men see these bad women, they will turn into beasts, and then the whole of society will have to pay the consequences."

According to the Shia cleric, women who do not respect conservative Islamic dress rules are "sources of all that is bad in society."

Which is why women must be kept in line like cattle. It's their fault rape exists. It's their fault stonings are necessary. It's their fault Muslim men - and men throughout the world - behave like savages. Why, if you want to exclude violence from your family and society, all you have to do is beat your women into submission.
