JERUSALEM — The United States has rejected an Israeli arms request that would have improved Israel's capability to attack Iran's nuclear facilities, a frontpage report in Israel's Haaretz newspaper said on Wednesday.

The U.S. warned Israel against attacking, saying such a strike would undermine American interests, the paper said.

Russian War Machine Grinds To A Halt

Regardless of which side you support or blame, one must admire the efficiency of Russia's military in this confrontation. There was no politically correct hand-wringing, no test of global approval or disapproval, no opinion polls, no bowing to media manipulations.

Russia was challenged and, however disproportionately, Russia responded.

Imagine, for a moment, if Israel reacted to missile attacks in the same manner. What if Hamas or Hezbollah faced this insane level of destruction whenever they attacked and kidnapped IDF soldiers? Would the Islamic fascists of the Taliban and Al Qaeda have any strength left today if America and coalition members used this aggressive force in the first place?

Ulysses S. Grant once said of warfare: "The art of war is simple enough. Find out where your enemy is. Get at him as soon as you can. Strike him as hard as you can, and keep moving on."

The Sons of the Revolution are stalled in their efforts to hold the 225th anniversary parade on November 25, a Saturday. The New York City Police Department, which has jurisdiction over parades in the city, turned down the organization's application for a parade on Broadway from City Hall to the Battery.

"I'm concerned that every imaginable ethnic group gets to celebrate their pride, every year, on the main thoroughfares of this city. But we're not allowed to celebrate the end of the war that formed this nation and ensured our liberty as Americans. We only have this parade once every 25 years," the executive director of the Sons of the Revolution, Richard Gregory, said.

Actions like this speak volumes about the future of our nation.

A horrible story with a tragic ending. After struggling on life-support for over four months, Lance Cpl. Robert Crutchfield has died from a gunshot wound received during a robbery:

"It is an awful story," said Alberta Holt, the young Marine's aunt and his legal guardian when he was a teenager determined to flee a troubled Cleveland school for safer surroundings in the suburbs.

Crutchfield was attacked on Jan. 5 while he and his girlfriend were waiting for a bus. He had heeded the warnings of commanders that a Marine on leave might be seen as a prime robbery target with a pocketful of money, so he only carried $8, his military ID card and a bank card.

"They took it, turned his pockets inside out, took what he had and told him since he was a Marine and didn't have any money he didn't deserve to live. They put the gun to his neck and shot him," Holt told The Associated Press.

This young man risked his life to defend and protect America. This is the thanks he gets?

Enough putting these thugs who commit these crimes in prison. These ungrateful pieces of human garbage should be taken to the worse part of Iraq and dumped off. Only then would they truly appreciate the freedom they abused and exploited in America. Only then would they understand how disgusting and obscene it was to sacrifice that freedom and the life of a man much better than they will ever be, for a mere $8.

Let The Stonings Begin

Pakistan, our so-called ally in the Middle East, submits to religious barbarians and agrees to allow the enforcement of the sharia in certain tribal areas:

An agreement to bring peace back to the tribal areas of Pakistan, but by using sharia as the common thread for local politics. This is the agreement signed yesterday by the provincial government of the North-West Frontier, which has released Maulana Sufi Muhammad - leader of the outlaw militants of Tehreek-e-Nifaz-e-Shariat Muhammadi (TRISM) - in exchange for a cease-fire in the areas controlled by the Islamic militias.

The Pakistani police had stopped Muhammad in November of 2001, while he was crossing the border of Afghanistan to organise the "anti-American resistance". In 2002, the judges had condemned him to 10 years in prison.

Now, with the peace agreement, Islamabad has withdrawn the accusations against the guerilla leader and has dissolved the rest of his sentence. Also according to the agreement his organisation, banned in 2002, will "continue its struggle for the enforcement of sharia law (Islamic Law) through peaceful means".

Through peaceful means? The sharia is a contradiction to 'peaceful,' invoking such barbaric, primitive punishments as stoning to death women who are raped but unable to provide 4 male witnesses. The sharia is akin to witch trials, which has long since been discredited by simple logic and rationality. But when we allow a 7th century mentality to exist in the 21st century, should we really be surprised that such cruelty the sharia perpetuates continues to thrive?

My heart goes out to the modern victims of Muhammad's savagery.

Despite the mainstream media's promotion that al-Sadr's Mahdi Army is inflicting major casualties on American forces, the Iraqi and coalition forces are also doing their damage. How do we know this? Say thank you to the embedded photog agents.

From one location, we can find at least two photographers for one agency that shalt not be named and al-Reuters as well. Thanks to Ali Abu Shish from Reuters and Alaa al-Marjani from (cough, cough). Again, odd finding the two most pro-embed media organizations at the same event.

And, from what can be seen from this photo here, we are not doing that much damage to them as one would think. Note the fat bellies and nice black wood coffins. And not to mention the ability to go out in broad, open daylight without fear. Is that lace I see wrapped around the bodies in later photos??? Awwww.

Iranian Nukes: Posturing on Al Quds Day?

As you might recall from last year's festivities, "Al Quds Day" is not the "celebration" of Jerusalem ("Al Quds") that it is presented as by the simpletons in the press. In reality, it is a coordinated political display of anti-Western and anti-American propaganda. This year promises to be just as exciting, so be sure to mark your calendars:

Qods Day is held each year on the last Friday of Muslims fasting month of Ramadan after it was nominated by the late Founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, as a day to voice the protest of the Islamic Ummah against the Zionists.

The day falls on October 12 this year.

"The US loses all opportunities to cooperate with regional and other world states by trying to support a regime (the Zionist regime) which is now at its weakest political and social position," Elham said.

He warned that Washington's insistence on its wrong policies and arrogant approaches would have no result "but further political disgrace" for itself.

Referring to the approaching World Qods Day, the spokesman stressed, "Supporters of the Zionist regime will definitely receive the final response for their support on that day."

It is worth noting that Iran has a tendency to make pronouncements like this quite often, so the result of their threat is likely to be yet another big nothing—but the protest photos are sure to be priceless! Yep, you guessed it. It's obviously the Lebanese Army's fault that the locals are protecting the terrorists. Nice to see that Mohammed Zaatari managed to make it past the Lebanese road block, in order to fully capture and share the terrorist's point of view...

Oh, I just noticed, keep in mind that this "artillery and machine gun fire" is echoing through the refugee camp... after the cease-fire "went into" effect. Did I call that right, or what?

UPDATE: Yep, just as I suspected: Mohammed Zaatari has embedded himself with the enemy. For the first time in this current conflict, we get to see the TERRORIST'S point-of-view, thanks to our SEDITIOUS Associated Press:

SECOND EXPLOSION IN LEBANON

In the midst of the Lebanese army's continuing battle with Fatah al-Islam in the northern city of Tripoli, a second explosion has rocked the capital city of Beirut, this time hitting the predominantly Sunni suburb of Verdun. Is this Bashir al-Assad's continued attempt to destabilize Lebanon in preparation of a return of the Syrian army? It's looking more and more like that's the case every passing day...

The wires are thankfully reporting that nobody has been killed in this bombing, unlike the previous one.

There appear to be reports that a bomb has been set off outside of a shopping mall in a northern suburb of Beirut early on Sunday morning (Lebanon time). It's odd that the blast went off so late—considering how valuable high-casualty targets are to terrorists.

No Problem Here, Right?

Another day, another Hezbullah front "protesting" in Lebanon? I've put in a request for information on this group with our resident expert on Lebanon, so hopefully we'll learn more about them shortly.

Update: Jeha sent the following e-mail, explaining this group in more detail. It doesn't seem to be as bad as the photographers make it look:

Those guys are "Offre-Joie", one of the few bright spots in Lebanon, if not the world. Initially, many of its founders were Christians, but they have always been committed to being a very secular/multi-confessional charity. They are truly committed to peace; I think that, when God mentioned the righteous, he had in mind a few people like those. I am partial to them; I volunteered with them for a while, but the Lebanese Red Cross gives more of an adrenaline rush...

For many in Lebanon, the hand raised is not necessarily a fascist thing, BTW. While it is true that we have more than our share of fascist tendencies, this is far from the case. When a Lebanese raises his hand like that, he has in mind the Roman salute, and it has something we do when we pledge allegiance or make an oath. A grand gesture of commitment, if you will...

In this case, they are making Gebran Tueni's
pledge, which we all made on March 14. The pledge is as follows;

"In the name of God
We, Muslims and Christians,
Pledge that united we shall remain
To the end of time
To better defend our Lebanon"

It was recited by Gebran Tueni, during the famous March 14, 2005, at Martyrs' Square. Gebran Tueni was assassinated by the Syrians by a car bomb, but his legacy lives on in this pledge, and many other good ideas... He is sorely missed at this juncture of our history... Note that all the more than 1.2 million of us who were present that day repeated it, and we all had our hands extended like that. The March 14 demo was really huge; Syria's Quislings were still in charge then, and tried to make it hard for people to go, but still, out of a population of less than 4 Million, more than half the population tried to show up on that day, and traffic jams extended to 30 km on all roads leading downtown...

You make a great point, however, in mentioning that this could be exploited by a few sinister people. And it looks like our politcal leaders either did not take the pledge, or are choosing to ignore it. But I fear the real danger comes from the "realists" in the United States, who appear hell-bent on selling us to the Syrians (again); they forget that Bin Laden, when he planned 9/11, had in mind the Marines' debacle in Beirut, in the 1980's. This is of his own admission, actually, but too many US politicians have the attention span on Homer Simpson. In any case, I hope no war will be visited on us, but we can only react to outside events, with little control of our own...

What's the use of having a "top secret" sneak attack, if details are "accidentally" leaked out to the Russian media? (English)

The scuttlebutt floating around the Russiosphere, and rapidly spreading over this way is that the United States will launch a super-secret sneak attack on Iran on the 6th of April.

US Plan to Attack Iran on Good Friday at 4 am!

I have taken the unusual step here of reproducing an article by Webster Tarpley in full on my blog. The seriousness of this situation has resulted in Russia calling for an emergency session of the UN Security Council which could maybe head off this insane act of supreme folly. All people of goodwill worldwide must support efforts by Russia, France, China and other non-permanent members of the Security Council to avert this act of global terror by the United States and it's allies. As predicted in earlier blogs this will be a nuclear attack because the US plan to bomb uranium enrichment facitilies and other targets that are part of Iran's legitimate civil nuclear power programme.

Is this the best they can come up with? A dastardly sneak attack on Good Friday? Good Lord... it's time for me to pull out ol' ~~Snidely Whiplash~~ Dick Dastardly [Ed.:—Thanks, David!]:

Fox News just broke with an alert from Reuters that the U.S. Embassy in Algeria is warning of an "imminent" attack on Western flights, possibly to and from Algiers. I'm still looking for details, and will post them whenever I can find them.

(So far, no luck. I'm not seeing any travel advisories for Algeria yet, either. I'm not seeing anything on the FoxNews website either. C'mon, Fox--How about getting your facts straight before reporting the story? I mean, it's not like I enjoy looking delusional or anything, not that I'm the only one who is...)

One man's "protest"

It looks like it's a busy morning in Lebanon right now. Very interesting, in fact. Hezbullah is beginning their "expansion" of their "open-ended protest," to couch the debate in the terms used by a wholly sympathetic press. Of course, true to their form, their "protest" seems to have entered the traditional "violence phase," but let's not let silly little things like that define them for who they are.

(To the press, "rioting Muslims" is not immediately synonymous with "violence" for some strange reason. That type of terminology only applies to certain politically-unfavoured groups, it seems.)

There's no doubt in my mind that this is a calculated riot intended to re-capture the Western press's attention, and it is orchestrated by a group of people whose singular goal is the total Islamification of Lebanon. Of course, much like our anti-war Western counterparts, there are a handful of useful idiots mixed in the bunch to give a veneer of validity, who will be sorely disappointed when Nasrallah turns the tables on them.

Most of the photos that have come across the wires so far are indistinguishable from your average Palestinian violence, so for the moment, I'll refrain from posting all of them. You'll find the most interesting ones from the bunch beyond the break, though!

More on Hezbullah's Escalation

Via MEMRI, we learn that Hezbullah might be planning to escalate its resistance not in Beirut, but in the southern parts of the country, and that they are planning on doing so by harassing the troops stationed there by UNIFIL. Specifically, Al-Mustaqbal claims that Hezbullah will be increasingly questioning the presence and role of international troops in the South, and objecting to their continued presence there.

The good news for Hezbullah is that, unlike Israel, UNIFIL will immediately respond by deploying an increased number of white flags.

The Coming Space Wars?

All those Wal-mart dollars are being put to good use...

In case you've missed it this morning, China has successfully shot down one of their satellites with a ballistic missile.

This reminds me of a story that a Russian friend of mine told me once. We were discussing the space-technology buildup, led by Ronald Reagan, that ultimately led to the demise of the Soviet Union, and he mentioned that there were some tricks that the Russians were up to that weren't "generally" known.

One of the technologies he related to me was a mechanism by which the Soviets could destroy all of the satellites in a general area, by detonating a bomb in space which would launch ball bearings at a high velocity in all directions. The most intriguing part of his story? The Soviets have already placed these types of "killer satellites" in orbit.

The other thing that's interesting, which is what reminded me of the tale, is that the Chinese satellite was reportedly knocked down by exactly this type of device, except it was launched on a ballistic platform and detonated immediately.

Is this another case of the Chinese "procuring" technology from the Russians which benefit their military? Were the Russians active participants in the development of this system? Only time will tell. In the mean time, I sure hope that the gearheads over at Lockheed are boning up on their space warfare post-haste.

Not being an aerospace engineer, I can't attest to the veracity of his story, but it was definitely interesting. My friend also had plenty of stories to tell about the peculiarities of Soviet manufacturing as well, but I'll save those for a later date.

Are we going to be hearing Jon Carry declare war on Venezuela? Will he denounce the communist leader, Hugo Chavez, who is now in the process of nationalizing the nation's industry? After all, now that his his personal ticket to wealth is involved, maybe he'll have something to say about it:

Venezuelan military seized a Heinz Ketchup plant in Venezuela's Monagas state last Monday. Heinz company representatives complained that the seizure represented, "a violation of property rights and free trade as well as due process." Venezuela's Minister for Agriculture and Land, Antonio Albarrán, argued, though, that 80% of the plant actually belongs to the workers and that Heinz bought the plant illegally in 1996. The plant has been closed for nearly a decade, according to Albarrán.

Hey Jon: This is the socialism that you and your Massachussettsan compatriots support. Maybe you ought to "BOHICA" like the rest of us. After all, what's good for the goose (i.e., arbitrary property seizures), is good for the gander, right?
