One wonders upon viewing this photo, whether or not the Associated Press has bothered to notify the Pakistani government of the "undisclosed" location in which they openly arranged to meet this outlawed gang of kidnapping terrorists for a classical, yet somehow modern photo-op:

Armed supporters of an outlawed militant group 'Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan,' left, guard kidnapped security personnel as they are presented to the media on the outskirts of Matta, an area of Pakistan's Swat district, Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008. Militants paraded some 38 security personnel, who were abducted from a post in Pakistan's troubled northwest Swat valley. Swat lies in a swath of northwestern Pakistan that has increasingly come under the sway of Islamic militants opposed to Pakistan's alliance with Washington in the war with terrorist groups. Eagle-eyed reader Gretsida spotted something curious in this Reuters photograph of a "peace activist" news conference. I've blown up and cropped a portion of the photo [terms; contact] to illustrate this interesting find:

You won't be hearing much through these microphones...

In all, of the 23 microphones shown in this particular photo-op, 10 to 12 of them are disconnected. Could it be that these microphones were placed on the stand to give this terrorist-supporting mob the airs of credibility?

And, if Reuters participated in this photo-op knowing full well of this manipulation, does that mean that Reuters is complicit in this fraud?

Stranger things have happened, I suppose.

A veiled activist from the Muslim Khawateen Markaz (MKM) looks out from behind the mesh of a symbolic prison during a protest in Srinagar June 20, 2008. Police detained six activists of the MKM, a women's separatist organisation, during a protest demanding the release of all Kashmiri youths detained in Indian jails and to stop what the MKM said are the human rights violation by Indian security forces on the Kashmiri people since a rebellion broke out in the Himalayan region at the end of 1989.

The Democratic party is the new standard-bearer for unity and tolerance, after all:

Two Muslim women at Barack Obama’s rally in Detroit Monday were barred from sitting behind the podium by campaign volunteers seeking to prevent the women’s headscarves from appearing in photographs or on television with the candidate…

On a positive note, at least this didn't result in a really embarrassing attempt at Photoshop-correction after the fact.

... BUT If It Were!
What the heck? Here's what I think an "average" Obama crowd would look like:

Like, war is soooo bad, man!

I'm working on more ideas over here. Here's Source A and Source B for these particular pictures.

I've got more ideas beyond the fold—Be sure to send in your own, too. No matter how many times I see this, I can't help but wonder if the press would give coverage as glowing to certain other groups as it collectively does to these terrorist thugs.

After all, the Izzedine al-Qassam Brigades openly espouses violence against civilians—which is something that the "Social Justice"-seekers in the press stand firmly against, isn't it?

Palestinian militants from Izzedine al-Qassam brigades, the Hamas military wing, speak to press during a news conference in Gaza City, Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008. Israeli troops killed the son of Gaza's most powerful leader and 18 others Tuesday in the bloodiest day of fighting in the coastal area since Hamas militants seized control there last summer. As fighting raged in Gaza, a Hamas sniper shot and killed an Ecuadorian volunteer working in the potato fields of an Israeli border farm. That killing, and Tuesday's high death toll, stoked the flames of violence at a time when Israel and Palestinian moderates are making halting attempts to talk peace. Once again, our illustrious press shows up to document, and ultimately to celebrate, a press conference arranged by Hamas. Yeah, we should all be used to it by now, right? But anyway, this one is a real doozie: Check out their victorious spoils of victory, yo:

Masked Palestinian militants from Hamas stand behind military equipment they said was captured in recent clashes with Israeli troops, during a press conference in the Jebaliya Refugee Camp, northern Gaza Strip, Friday, Oct. 26, 2007. In violence Friday, Israeli forces killed three Palestinian militants in separate incidents in the Gaza Strip, including one airstrike in Gaza City.(AP Photo/Hatem Moussa)

I'm sure the IDF will truly be unable to function without that cot. Tremble in fear, o ye Zionists!
Continue reading "Celebrating the Victory of Thugs"

I think this bunch of pro-Israeli protesters have finally found a way to get the press to take them seriously:

Israeli protesters hold toy guns and wear Kaffiyehs, traditional Muslim headdress, during a demonstration against the release of Palestinian prisoners, in Jerusalem September 25, 2007. Israel will release 87 Palestinian prisoners on Monday, a Prisons Authority spokesman said, a move aimed at bolstering President Mahmoud Abbas ahead of a U.S.-sponsored conference on Palestinian statehood. REUTERS/Ammar Awad (JERUSALEM)

Word has it that their competitors are somewhat unhappy with this new situation:

"Yes, we decry this abuse of our distinguished status by the Zionist pigs. Oh, and DEATH TO AMERICA!"

Orig: Masked members of the Al Quds Brigades, the Islamic Jihad military wing, and The Popular Front for Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) stand with their guns held up during a press conference in Gaza City, Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007. In the West Bank, Israeli troops and Palestinian gunmen traded fire during an army raid in the Al Ain refugee camp Tuesday, killing an armed Palestinian and an Israeli soldier .(AP Photo/Hatem Moussa)

Feel free to peruse my Thug Conferences category for more examples of this phenomenon. And while you're doing so, try to imagine the press taking this group as seriously as they take these terrorist thugs.

How fortunate for us to have such vaunted news services. Mere hours after their puff-photography of the bloodthirsty killers of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, we plebians are treated to a most balanced reaction from the bloodthirsty killers of Hamas.

Masked Palestinian gunmen from Hamas speak at a press conference criticizing Fatah gunmen in the West Bank who gave up their weapons, in Gaza City, Monday, July 16, 2007. Scores of Fatah militants in the West Bank signed a pledge renouncing attacks against Israel in return for an Israeli promise to stop pursuing them, a Palestinian security official said Sunday, July 15, 2007.(AP Photo/Khalil Hamra)

Of course, it's very fitting that Hamas would mock anyone for wanting to make peace with the Zionist entity. After all, it's not like we expect Hamas to suddenly become peaceful. How odd it is, though, that the Associated Press feels compelled to transmit their mockery world-wide as bona-fide news.

Update:

It would seem that, in less than 12 hours, the leader of this new offshoot of Al-Aqsa has been slain by the IDF, making this perhaps the shortest-lived terrorist group in the history of the Middle East.

It would appear that there is now a spinoff of Al-Aqsa Martyr's Brigades, which is itself a spinoff of the supposedly-moderate Fatah organization. It would seem that these discontents, who form the new Abu Amar Martyr's Brigades (very original), are pushing to kill Jews faster than ever.

The press, of course, didn't miss the opportunity to show up and bask in the thugs' glory.

If the smoking doesn't kill him, the IDF surely will!

It's curious to note that the reason given by these thugs for their separation from Al-Aqsa is that, and I quote, "some Al Aqsa gunmen have earned a bad reputation for their involvement in vigilante actions, including extortion."

Terrorist thugs? Involved in extortion? Who woulda thunk it?

In any case, I've got more background of terrorist press conferences, if you're not familiar with the topic. The press is completely disgracing itself in its continual attempts to support the Intifada. Check out this delightful piece of propaganda:

Palestinian female militants of the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, linked with Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas' secular Fatah party, pose for journalists at Rafah refugee camp, in the southern Gaza Strip. Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas called for a halt to rocket fire and a truce with Israel on Thursday after the army seized 33 senior Hamas figures in the latest crackdown aimed at stopping the Gaza salvos.(AFP/Said Khatib)

It's almost as if we're looking at some twisted version of
<strike>Charlie's</strike> Mahmud's Angels or something.

I hate it when someone beats me to this, but credit is due where it's due. Good job on covering this first, Elder! I remain your humble servant, o mighty one!

Female Palestinian suicide bombers attend a news conference in Gaza May 21, 2007. The bombers, members of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, declared that they are ready to blow themselves up in attacks against the Israeli army if it attacks Gaza. REUTERS/Mohammed Salem (GAZA)

Is savagery like this really newsworthy? Why is it appropriate for a news organization to be present at these events, transmitting unquestionably the terrorists' hateful propaganda?

Reuters is a disgrace upon the entire West. They have reduced themselves from being a vaunted news organization, to existing as a mere channel for terrorist propaganda. It's almost as if they were a shell of their former selves, isn't it?

I've got more pictures from this particular joke of a "news conference" beyond the fold. If you want background on terrorist press conferences, I've got that, too!

Another day, another terrorist press conference. You've gotta love how far the press will go to fawn over these thugs.

Masked Palestinian militants of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades hold a press conference in Gaza City Thursday, April 26, 2007. Two Palestinian women attended the press conference and vowed to blow themselves up if Israel invades Gaza. (AP Photo/ Hatem Moussa)

"Did somebody say Klan?" (Robert Byrd, Democrat)

A handful of photographers sent photographs over the wires of this farce, but of all of them, Reuters is characteristically short on details. Can you guess what Mohammed Salem left out of his captions? Are these the same familiar faces we've commented on before? The guy in the second row, 2nd from the right seems to be familiar, from where I'm sitting in any case.

Palestinian militants of Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, a militia linked to the Fatah movement, carry their weapons during a press conference in the West Bank city of Nablus March 6, 2007. The militants held a press conference following the Israeli army operation in Nablus last week. (AP Photo/Nasser Ishtayeh)

The guy all the way to the left in the front row looks familiar as well. (Update--And I believe the guy second from the right in the front row is none other than Mahdi Abu Ghazaleh, the spokesman of Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade.)

Curiously enough, Nasser Ishtayeh was one of the photographers who sent in the last set of pictures surrounding this particular Al Aqsa cell, and in the story previous to that, where I'd originally spotted "Jughead."

Very interesting.

Does Nasser Ishtayeh (ap) associate freely with Al Aqsa, a rather notorious terrorist group? He sure does seem to be around whenever they do anything photogenic. I'll be sure to keep my eyes peeled for corresponding pictures from Abed Omar Qusini (reuters), who for some reason tends to show up wherever Nasser does.

For more background on the respect shown to terrorist press conferences by the press, see my previous coverage.

The media, in all of its glory, wholeheartedly participating in the celebration of a new weapon designed to kill Jews:

Masked Palestinian militants of the al-Aqsa Martyrs' brigades display weapons to the media in the West Bank city of Nablus Tuesday Nov. 28, 2006. The millitants displayed in a news conference what they claim to be a new homemade rocket named in Arabic 'Jondallah 1', means 'Soldiers of God'. (AP Photo/Majdi Mohammed)

More details will follow shortly, as soon as I have the time. I hope to track down the news articles attached to this event, photographs from other wires that might have attended, etc. In the meantime, the only other photo I've found on the wires so far from this "celebration" follows in the extended article.

Update: Reuters is beginning to weigh in on this event, sending in a photo bylined Abed Omar Qusini. It's interesting to note that Reuters' version of this story is significantly different than the story presented by the AP.
Continue reading "Cheerleading for the Terrorists"

Would Reuters be interested in participating in a Klu Klux Klan press conference?

No?

Then why is it okay for Reuters to legitimize THIS murderous band of thugs? Perhaps because Reuters has no problems with groups that kill Jews?

With garbage like this, is it any wonder why nobody trusts the press anymore?

If you doubt for one moment that the press is complicit in the murder of innocent civilians on both sides of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, check out the following picture:

Just a regular press conference? (AP Photo/Hatem Moussa)

Did the press glorify this too?

Do you think the press would have fawningly covered the Klu Klux Klan this way? The Third Reich? The Italian Mafia? (Well, okay, so they did kinda fawn over that last group.)

Why, then, do they feel that it's okay to be used as Public Relations advisers to the terrorist thugs that run the West Bank?
