The Ghost of Snapped Shot

Or, welcome to my low-maintenance heck.

Happy Memorial Day!

I'd like to take a moment to thank our vaunted defenders in our Armed Forces, in particular, the Marines I work with on a regular basis! Without the sacrifices that y'all have made, America would have never happened.

After all, what do you think the odds are that England would have granted us our independence if only, say, our poets were acting? Or our lawyers?

Okay, maybe the lawyers had a shot at it, but nobody fought as hard as our citizen soldiers did.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart!

Brian, I read somewhere that the people at the time of our declaration of our independence was against those moves. "The polls were against the use of force to push a nation into freedom" - in other words.

Our leaders, while elected were not doing the will of the people. They were doing the will of what was right for the nation as a whole. Some of those leaders were against this idea of separation.

Just think if we had the leaders of today, back then. We would have polled the people, sought their approval, blamed the opposing parties for all problems, sought the good will from England and sought the best wishes from other countries in order to push Brittain diplomatically to ease tensions in the area.

BTW, love the fine print in the comments section.
