The Untrustworthy Nature

... of film, writ large: It's a recurring debate as to whether or not the technological advances being made in imaging are beneficial to the cause of truthfulness or not, and it's not one that's really all that "new" of a worry, as photo fraud can be traced back to the invention of the technology in the mid-1800's. now that is just scary. the clarity and the realism provided by the video trace is just plain scary.

This goes far beyond the idea of photoshopping. We, if I may, tend to view video as more "real" than a photo as we inherently know it is more difficult to fake a video than a photo capturing a single moment.

It is unimaginable to think what this technology will lead to - in terms of news gathering.
