One Man's Militant

Despite the fact that even Reuters itself refers to all of the Palestinians who were allowed across Egypt's Rafah crossing with Gaza last night as "Militants," it is interesting to see that the photography desk decided to strike the term. One wonders how "extreme" a militant must be, before our intrepid Reuters photographers agree to call them as such.

The original caption read, "Palestinian militants arrive through the Rafah border crossing into Gaza September 30, 2007. Scores of Palestinian militants who had been stranded in Egypt since Hamas seized Gaza in June returned to the territory on Sunday, witnesses said, signalling possible new accommodation between Cairo and the Islamist group. You've been here before, haven't you?
Am really surprised that Israel has not arrested you for working for the enemy.

You know Brian, am really surprised that Reuters didn't call them Freedom Fighters, apartheid raiders, vigilantes, or.. farmers.
