Kyle Drennen has an excellent piece on NewsBusters.org about how some members of the media covered Alaska's governor, Gov Sarah Palin, appearance and speech at the Republican Governors Association conference in Florida.
I would like you to wander over to his post and read it as it is a great dissection of what true idiots of the media are capable of writing. But, I would like to take a piece of his article and expand on it a bit.
...correspondent Kelly Cobiella focused on Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, observing: "A lot of Americans would like to see her stay on the national stage -- 45 percent, according a new Gallup Poll. But even more, 52, percent, would not." Cobiella then added: "The party itself is split on whether to embrace Palin-style conservatism or broaden its appeal." A clip of Politico’s Jonathan Martin was featured: "You talk to a lot of these governors and they're very candid about it. This cannot be a white rural male party. And if it is, it's going to die."
OK, let's take Kelly's suggestion that a majority of Americans would not like to see more of Palin. Ok? Who cares! First off, didn't around 52% of this mighty fine nation vote for an anti-Palin candidate? Didn't they just get finished voting for an anti-America Socialist? If a true media person wanted to know the impact of Palin on a party, shouldn't that esteemed media figure conduct a poll on.....THE REPUBLICANS? Isn't that the party that kind of decides who will their leaders will be? This is nothing more than another biased media hawg pimping the Democrat line. Fear of Palin.
Second, and even more disturbing (and revealing) is the statements by Jonathan Martin. Is he really trying to impress upon us that these Republican governors do not like a conservative woman in the Republican party? To me, this sounds like a fear-factor of Jonathan than a confession of Republican governors.
But, even worse, is his statement that the Republican party risks becoming a "white rural
[Ed: i.e. gun-toting, beer-drinking, red-necked] male party". I have never read a more racist bigoted remark in all of my life. This even trumps Obama's "gun clinging" statement. And, it is hugely idiotic at best even. The piece is about the effect a conservative WOMAN is having on the Republican party and Jonathon is worried that if the Republican party disenfranchises Palin, they will revert BACK to being just a party of rural white males who go around grunting, drinking beer and shooting at anything that moves.
These statements show how oblivious the media are to who really make up the Republican party and more specifically the Conservative members of the party. This is a most bigoted and racist view of the Republican party. Some of the most world renowned figures are black and Republican. The list includes:

Many of the members of the Republican party are females as well, black and white and all kinds of colors. Jonathan's remarks are about as wrong and racist as saying that "if you don't vote for Obama, YOU are a racist". There would have been a huge uproar had a conservative stated that very same idea. What if a Republican had said that now that Obama has been elected, the Democrat party is no longer made up of just white rich New England liberals? They HAD to elect Obama or else they would lose the black vote.
BTW, I would like to introduce you to my friend from India.
He's conservative. He is not legally allowed to vote yet, but he spits piss-n-vinegar every time he hears the damage the liberals are doing to this nation.
What these people miss, and even many members of the Republican party, is that it is not up to the people in the party to "expand" their beliefs and ideals to fit those who might want to join. It is up to the new people to decide if they agree with and fit the mold. If you change conservatism to allow more liberal ideals in, it's no longer conservatism.
And there is no reason to change the Republican party either. When you allow liberalism to enter the Republican party (Bush, Spectre, Collins, i.e. rinos) then you no longer have a distinction between Democrats and Republicans. Stop trying to change the party. If you don't like it, then start your own.
Or join Ralph Nader's.

But he didn't do the right thing (again). and at that point, I couldn't have voted for a felon - even if it means the Democrats will be virtually unchecked in the Senate with 58-60 seats depending on how you count 'em and whether or not Franken steals the MN seat.
