Amid multiple Mosques in the Republic of Tajikistan's largest city and capital, Dushanbe, officials choose to destroy the city's only Synagogue for a new government complex:
A new complex complete with parks and fountain will be built, replacing an entire neighbourhood. About a thousand Jews are left in the country and they do not have the money to build a new synagogue.
Dushanbe’s only synagogue and all the buildings in the downtown neighbourhood where it is located will be torn down to build a luxurious presidential complex complete with parks and fountains.
And, no doubt, footbaths...
