The Ghost of Snapped Shot

Or, welcome to my low-maintenance heck.

High Noon or Coward of County?

Have people have had enough of the violence in America's major cities? With the ever increasing crime rates and people voting in even more liberals and liberal policies, it would appear not. However, there may be a light beginning to shine.

...Gov. Rod Blagojevich on Wednesday ... announced he's got a new idea to help combat the violence that Chicago is experiencing: he's talking to the Illinois State Police and the National Guard to see if they could help.

"Violent crime in the city of Chicago is out of control," Blagojevich said at the bill signing ceremony. "I'm offering resources of the state to the city to work in a constructive way with Mayor Daley to do everything we can possibly do to help stop this violence," said the governor.

Oh My! It would seem that someone has had enough with the violence. But, it took the actions of a governor to do something about it. I wonder what the mayor of Chicago has to say about this?

The governor said Chicago Mayor Richard Daley hasn't asked for help... In fact, Daley's office said the mayor did not know anything about Blagojevich's comments and did not know he was going to make them.

Go figure on that one. Elect a liberal democrat and all you hear is silence when people's lives are at stake. Just look at Socialist Party's candidate for president this year: B. Hussein Obama. How bad does violence in a city have to be if it gets the attention of the governor of the state and his proposal is to send in the National Guard?

But then, he is sounding awfully democrat with some of his reasons for researching this plan.
Read on...
"It might be able to free up some resources that the Chicago police uses for capital needs, to be able, to maybe to, hire more police officers, or possibly ask some to come out of retirement, to put them into these violent zones, hot zones, where, clearly, I think, part of the challenge is that gangbangers outnumber police officers five to one," Blagojevich said.

Could someone please explain that statement to me? I thought I knew what he was saying, but then... no. It sounds like he is saying that if he brings down the National Guard, that will free up money that Chicago would have spent on "capital needs" and be able to hire more cops to patrol in Chicago. How does bringing in National Guard free up money that Chicago would have spent on "capital needs". What the heck is capital need?

If this is the answer to hiring more cops, then why not just spend less on capital needs? Whatever that is. Why not just do this anyway and show how ineffective Mayor Daley has been? Aren't the people's lives at stake here? But no, research has to be done. Political Correctness has to rule. Meanwhile, kids are dying.

The summer of 2008 will be remembered as especially violent. Blagojevich said there's been a child shot nearly every day since June 26, with 29 Chicago Public School students shot since last fall. "Twenty-eight of those kids are African-American and Latino.

You know, for some reason that just does not surprise me any more. To find out that only 1 of 29 kids murdered in the lovely city of Chicago was an "other" while 28 were black or hispanic. Who's surprised here? Could it be that this is how these people really want to live? If they wanted change, for the sake of their children, they would vote in and demand change. They would pay for more cops. Or they would move out of high crime areas. But guess what, even the governor defends this.

"Hard to imagine that that would be acceptable if that were, in fact, the case in other parts of the city or in a middle-class suburb somewhere," he said. "Something is wrong, and this violence has to stop."

Its not hard to imagine at all. Those areas just don't put up with it. Why do you think suburbs were created in the first place? Normal peace loving people moved out of the cities due to the ever increasing crime and placation of criminals and other cultures. They created their own communities in order to live in peace and raise their kids in a safe environment. But then that left who to run the city life?

The reason why it is unacceptable is because we middle-class people just don't put up with it. We either move or demand change.

You want an example of why cities like Chicago is killing itself? Want to know why so many people are dying (a kid a day since June 26)? it is because of nitwits like this!!

...police department spokeswoman Monique Bond said they learned of the comments after Blagojevich made them as well, and said it was too soon to comment.

But Bond took issue with the governor's contention that crime is "out of control" in Chicago, pointing out that if the current murder rate holds in the city, 2008 may end with fewer than 500 homicides and that it is expected to be one of the least deadly years in the city in the last 40 years.

But then, you had to know that even this great gesture had ulterior, political, money-driven motives...

They also come as the governor tries to find support for a massive statewide construction program that would be funded by expanded casino gambling. So far, Daley has refused to go along because he objects to the amount Blagojevich wants to charge Chicago to run a downtown casino.

The STATE OF ILLINOIS wants to operate their own casinos? And use the money from casinos to fund statewide construction? And surprise, surprise. The governor is using this flimsy plan built on the high crime rate in Chicago in order to try and gain public opinion on his side.

Told you. You elect them and this crap happens. You elect them, you live with it.
