Never content to take away your freedoms regarding the way you drive or the cars you buy, the nimroots that believe man is the fault of ever single event on Earth, have decided there is an even more insidious, disastrous, inhuman, unconstitutional, US separationsistic device that needs to be dealt with. This device is something that some people use on a weekly basis. Some people even make a living using these devices. This is a device that has made our lives much more easier and safer. It has even led to increased property values. And, I will accede that this device is also the bane of people who enjoy their sleep.

Gasoline-powered lawnmowers that are a big cause of summertime air pollution [Ed: Notice how they already make it a definitive issue without a doubt] will have to be dramatically cleaner under rules issued Thursday by the Environmental Protection Agency.
The long-awaited regulation [Ed: yeah, by the green nutjobs] requires a 35 percent reduction in emissions from new lawn and garden equipment beginning in 2011. Big emission reductions are also required for speedboats and other recreational watercraft, beginning in 2010.
The reductions will be the equivalent of removing one out of every five cars and trucks on the road,...[Ed: Yeah? And putting 2lbs of air in your tires will stop the need for drilling any more oil wells]
If this is such a huge problem, then why not begin the mandates now and order the removal or modification of the older models? Well, if you can't go after the things you hate (vehicles), go after something else people have. What is next, going after home entertainment systems for producing heat that directly warms the environment and wastes electricity??
So, how much more is this going to cost the average American (and illegal lawn mowers)?
Industry groups said exact figures were difficult to calculate, but the California Air Resources Board has estimated that walk-behind mowers would cost 18 percent more under the new regulation, ...
Well that's good. Cause we all know that "green" vehicles like the Prius was just priced a bit more than a normal car. Right? But, at least this impacts everyone fairly, right?
Environmentalists welcomed the regulation, which applies to lawn care engines under 25 horsepower and to a full range of gas-powered personal watercraft. The rule requires a 70 percent reduction in emissions from recreational watercraft.
Oh, guess not. Makes sense though, right? Cause we all know that larger engines produce less emissions. Like the large diesel rigs we see on the roads. Those are almost 100% clean, right? Then engines on jet planes actually clean the air they are so "green".
But, some people think the EPA has not done enough to protect the environment.
Twelve states, New York City and the District of Columbia are suing the Environmental Protection Agency, claiming the Bush administration has failed to rein in emissions from oil refineries. [Ed: Mommy, make them stop! waaa]
New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo said Monday the suit is aimed at forcing the EPA to adopt new regulations to reduce oil industry pollution that contributes to global warming.[Ed: the writer pushing that belief system again]
So, the state's are suing the EPA to enact tougher legislation against the oil industries in their own states. Since these Democrat leaders are unable to get restrictive and industry killing rules passed in their own legislatures, they have asked the federal government to take precedence over state's rights. These people are selling their people's and their state's rights down the river for the sake a theoretical communist scare tactic.

Skul: You are right. They want to make all small engine devices like weed-trimmers battery operated or electric. Have never seen a battery operated trimmer have the guts and longevity of an electric weedeater. And have never seen an electric that can beat a gas-powered weedeater when used in the field.
My point is, there is a reason these things were invented, built and sold. There is a need and desire. Battery vehicles are nice and have a place in small suburbs and going to the store for milk, but they are not compatible with commercial transport or over-the-road hauling of goods. Try hauling a 25 ton steel bridge beam across the rockies using batteries.
