The Ghost of Snapped Shot

Or, welcome to my low-maintenance heck.

Looking sharp.

This photo, taken by pool photographer Paul Richards, illustrates the reaction I expected when Leon Panetta was named as the newest SecDef. He's clearly too hot for comfort, given that Afghanistan is clearly not the swank D.C. suburbs that he's used to, and the Marines in the background are definitely giving him a less than enthusiastic welcoming.

But hey, our Commander in Chief is a life-experience-free lawyer, too, so it's not like the military isn't used to this type of personality by now.

Panetta visited troops in southern Afghanistan July 10 as part of his first trip to the country since taking up his post and ahead of a withdrawal of some US forces. AFP Photo/POOL/Paul J.
