A candidate they fear.
DrewM points out that the media has taken the liberty of releasing Rick Perry's college transcripts, which they received from an anonymous source in Texas.
The Huffington Post was passed Perry's transcripts from his years at Texas A&M University by a source in Texas. The future politician did not distinguish himself so much in the classroom. While he later became a student leader, he had to get out of academic probation to do so. He rarely earned anything above a C in his courses -- earning a C in U.S. History, a D in Shakespeare, and a D in the principles of economics. Perry got a C in gym.
One wonders where all of these daring, courageous anonymous sources were back in 2008, when the nation was very interested to learn more about Barack Obama's super-distinguished college career.
Of course, given that university staff across the nation are 72% liberal (that is to say, they're most of the very vocal 21% liberal minority in this country), I guess that question's kinda a no-brainer.

Update: AoSHQ commenter Tsar Nicholas II puts it plainly:
Obviously there's already been internal (not for public consumption) polling of a potential Perry-Obama general election contest and the media/Democrat complex is very, very afraid of a Perry candidacy.
In fact, given that they've decided to leak this trash item so far in advance of next year's election -- hell, before Perry even has declared his candidacy -- it suggests that Perry not only is ahead of Obama but that it's not even close. The fact they've also started leaking the "opposition research file" on Perry buttresses that conclusion.
This has all the earmarks of a Democrat/media attempt at candidate preemption. Simply put they're deathly afraid of Perry being the nominee and they know they can't wait until right before the Nov. general to dump all their dirt on him; by then it'll be far too late to save their man.
Look for a lot more Perry bashing in advance of the Iowa and New Hampshire nominating contests.
