Yes, we must have it. It is the technology to have. It will lead us to the next Utopia. It will do everything you dream of. It will allow you to read anywhere. It will cook your bacon. It will clean your house.
What is this amazing item that will deliver our future of technology today?
It's The Amazing IPAD!!
Wow! $829 for a small device that you can only read e-books, play media files and have download capabilities. Yeah.
And, what other benefits are we going to be gifted with? Benefits that will give us the future today?
According to a recently-posted FAQ, Apple will replace your iPad if it "requires service due to the battery's diminished ability to hold an electrical charge," for $99 and a $6.95 shipping fee.
YEAH!! $100 to get a brand-new refurbished Ipad whenever we want one. We just got to run down that battery. Right?
Apple added, "Your iPad is not eligible for Battery Replacement Service if the product has been damaged, for example, as result of an accident, liquid contact, disassembly, unauthorized service or unauthorized modifications, or if the product is not operating correctly as a result of a component failure."
So, this nearly $900 technological revolutionary device does have a warranty, but, should it ever break down or fail due to Apple's failure, then you are out of luck. You are out nearly $900. You are back to being .... normal. OH NO!!!
Oh, and if you think you could even deal with these onerous requirements and rules, remember this...
Apple warns that replacement iPads won't come with any of your personal
information and suggests you sync your old device with iTunes to backup
your data before sending it in.
Well, hey, that's not bad. Right? So you pay over $100 because your battery died. You might get it back in a week or two. But, who needs to keep their personal data. Right?
Come on. It's the "it" technology. We must have it no matter the cost.
You know, Apple wouldn't make these devices expensive with orwellian warranties and rules and useless lifespans if consumers would use their pocket books wisely.
Think of the auto-makers. They still make trucks because consumers like you still buy trucks. Even though these auto-makers are told that doing so will eat up their government-mandated CAFE levels. Thus, they are forced to produce the "green" golf carts to offset the high CAFE trucks. But, people buy those golf carts. Why?
Some buy these highly unsafe and ecologically unfriendly vehicles because they believe they save their nation's resources. But most, buy these government-mandated cars because they believe them to be the "it" car.
If you don't buy these worthless show pieces, the manufactures just might get the hint. The manufacturers like Apple might just create something that is useful.
