Campaign Rhetoric = Cause = Reality

I guess we now know the reason for then presidential campaigner Obama's statement of his belief that this nation should have a "civilian" national military force.

Home-based terrorists.

Fifteen years after the Oklahoma City bombing, the specter of domestic terrorism has returned to haunt the Obama administration, with a warning from the FBI that “home-grown and lone-wolf extremists” now represent as serious a threat as Al Qaeda and its affiliates, The Times reported on Saturday.

The warning, from the FBI Director, Robert Mueller, came as the former President Clinton drew parallels between the Oklahoma City tragedy and a recent upsurge in anti-government rhetoric, while American television audiences heard Timothy McVeigh, the Oklahoma City bomber, describe the “absolute rage” that drove him to plan an attack that killed 168 men, women and children.

WOW.

So, Timothy McVeigh and the Islamic Terrorists who attacked us on 9/11/01 AND al-Qaeda have absolutely everything in common with ......  Tea Party and anti-Big Government rally-ers.

Hmmmm.

So, Timothy McVeigh's hatred of his government was based on radical Islamic hatred of his Christian nation?  So, Islamic terrorists hate us because we are an ever growing government that were involved in the deaths of other anti-government people?  So, the Tea Party people are mainly bent on the spread of Islam?

An FBI spokesman said Friday that Mueller was referring to right-wing extremist groups and anti-government militias...

Ever get the feeling that the government really fears this growing pro-Constitution, anti-Socialism, anti-Big Government people?  When you can vilify a group of people so much that the nation hates them, then you have the power to inflict any action you deem necessary upon that group to control them.  Hitler vs Jews anyone?

[Update:]

I just noticed this on the bottom of th article.  Rather telling I think.

The White House was careful to emphasize that the threat of external terrorism remained acute but senior officials are privately confident that military operations in Afghanistan are going well and putting Al Qaeda on the back foot.

Few people in Washington are as confident about the domestic threat.

oooooooooooooooooo  now I am really scared about those evil, threatening, warring, violent, and downright not nice Tea Party people.

But also note, this doofus article's author suggested that our fight against al-Qaeda in Afghanistan is going well.  Ummm.... aren't we fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan?  And are we not in a current pull back away from strong Taliban forces?

Too bad we have that new poliy of non-self-defense.
