The Ghost of Snapped Shot

Or, welcome to my low-maintenance heck.

Mexico Mad That US Border Patrol Agent Defended Self

*Update at bottom*

In a tired, retried, and retreaded meme, according to the international do-gooders, it is against all humanity to defend oneself from rock-throwers with the use of deadly force.

Israel has undergone decades of these international media attacks after their soldiers defended themselves from arab stone-slingers and throwers.  What these do-gooders don't realize is that stones can kill just as effectively as bullets.  Being under the attack of stones is internationally considered being under the attack of deadly force.  Yet, it would seem that Israel has been singled out for, attacked, for even thinking of defending themselves.

So much so, that Israel has had to switch to rubber bullets.  This is considered a non-lethal form of response.  Israel must allow the stone-throwers to live to fight another.  To come back another day to attempt to kill another Israeli Jew. And yet, the International cry- babies still, STILL, cray and gnash their teeth when a rock-thrower gets injured or killed.

You see.  It is OK to kill those western-democracy-based soldiers when they are defending freedom.  It is not OK to kill those who attack said defenders of freedom.

And thus, we arrive at this story that come to us today.  Mexico is in a furious rant that one of our Border Guards dared to defend himself against Mexican rock-throwers.  However, things may not be all that would appear.

As I will show, this article is full of nonsense and holes.  Let's start off with the basics of the incident:

CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico – A U.S. Border Patrol agent fatally shot a 15-year-old Mexican boy after a group trying to illegally enter Texas threw rocks at officers near downtown El Paso, U.S. authorities said Tuesday.

The shooting, which happened Monday evening beneath a railroad bridge linking the two nations, drew sharp criticism from Mexico, where President Felipe Calderon said Tuesday that his goverment "will use all resources available to protect the rights of Mexican migrants."

The government "reiterates its rejection to the disproportionate use of force on the part on U.S. authorities on the border with Mexico," the president added in a statement

OK.  So, the story states that a 15-year old Mexican national was allegedly shot by a US Border Patrol agent.  Yet, if you check the link, the picture's (which is gruesome and how it was allowed to be posted is an example of our MSM culture) comments states that the dead was a 14-year old boy.

Body of young Mexican migrant, 14, lies [sic]

The body of a young Mexican migrant, 14, lies at the border between Mexico and the US, under the "Santa Fe International Cross" gate, in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. Mexico on Tuesday strongly condemned the US Border Patrol's "disproportionate" use of force by an agent who shot dead a 14-year-old Mexican boy who was throwing rocks on a bridge linking the two nations.  (AFP/Jesus Alcazar)

There's that coded word again.  "Disproportionate".  Remember how we learned of its meaning during the Gazan battle of January 2009?  I reiterate, again, that throwing rocks is considered using deadly force.

Notice that even the MSM notes this "kid" was a "Mexican migrant".  Which means that he probably was trying cross in to US illegally which was as reported.  And again, we have the liberal fake-king of Mexico telling us how to protect our nation.  He boldly states that he alone has the right to dictate the rights of illegal border crossers that sneak in to our nation.

But, things get nuttier from there.

Arturo Sandoval, a spokesman for the Chihuahua Attorney General's office, said a spent .40-caliber shell casing was found near the body — raising the question of whether the fatal shot was fired inside Mexico,.....

A U.S. official, meanwhile, said video shows the Border Patrol agent did not enter Mexico.

The official, who agreed to discuss the matter only if not quoted by name, said the video also shows what seem to be four Mexican law enforcement officers driving to the edge of the dry but muddy bed of the Rio Grande, walking across to the U.S. side, picking up an undetermined object and returning to Mexico near the area where the boy's body was.

The Border Patrol would seem to use a Beretta 96D pistol (no rifles or shotguns allowed) that uses a 40-cal. bullet.  But, as we have seen recently from incidents with Israel and a flotaing ship-o-terror, video is very useful and helpful when defending your actions.

So, there is some video out there, recorded by someone, that shows this?   There is video that shows all the actions, yet Mexico still feels compelled to attack us?  I don't think so.

So, what really happened?  Well, according to the FBI investigation:

According to the FBI, Border Patrol agents were responding to a group of suspected illegal immigrants being smuggled into the U.S. near the Paso Del Norte bridge, across from Ciudad Juarez around 6:30 p.m. Monday.

One suspected illegal immigrant was detained on the levee on the U.S. side, the FBI said in a statement. Another Border Patrol agent arrived on the concrete bank where the now-dry, 33-feet (10-meter) wide Rio Grande is, and detained a second suspect. Other suspects ran back into Mexico and began throwing rocks, the FBI said.

The agent told the rock throwers to stop and back off, but they continued. The agent fired his weapon several times, hitting one who later died...

So....... Ok, so what happened here that was wrong on the part of the Border Patrol?  One agent was on the ground detaining two illegal border runners out of a group.  Those who got away then proceeded to throw rocks at the border agents, hitting them.  After several attempts at warning them verbally, they continued to throw rocks.  After several attempts at warning them off using the fiream, they continued to throw rocks.  Thus the agent, feeling endangered and under attack by a group of attackers, defended himself and his partner the best, AND LAST, way he could.  Now, it could also be that this was a ricochet.  They were under a bridge and on concrete abatements.

But Mexico is having none of that.  Especially the boy's mum and pop. (maybe you should have tought him to not run the border)

The boy's sister, Rosario Hernandez, told Associated Press Television News that her brother was playing with several friends and did not plan to cross the border.

"They say that they started firing from over there and suddenly hit him in the head," she said Monday.

The boy's sister, awww.  Lil Sergio just wanted to go play with his friends.  He never meant nobody no harm.  He was a good kid.  He was just over there, playing with his little red firetruck, in the sand, having the best time of his life when the evil Americans just showed up and started firing their evil guns killing people left and right.  They came out of nowhere.  Suddenly.  Lil Sergio was the first to go down on that dark and bloody day.  A day that will live in her infamy.

His father, Jesus Hernandez, asked for justice during the boy's wake at the family's two-room adobe house attended by some 30 friends and relatives.

"They killed my little boy and the only thing I ask is for the law" to be applied, Hernandez said sobbing.

You ask for justice and the law?!?!  Now that is funny.  From a country that does not believe in justice and law?  From a country that allows numerous and massive drug cartels to rule and feels compelled to dictate the application of NO-laws when it comes to illegal border runners?  Sounds like the kid has already met his justice.

Earlier Tuesday, the boy's mother, Maria Guadalupe Huereka, told Milenio TV in Mexico that her son had gone to eat with his brother, who handles luggage at a border customs office. While there, he met up with a group of friends and they decided to hang out by the river, she said.

"That was his mistake, to have gone to the river," she said. "That's why they killed him."  "He was a boy, and even then they killed him," she said. "I ask that they punish them. ... They left me without anything."

Wait? What?  She has a different last name?  Thought we have been
told that Mexicans value their family values and are very family-value oriented?  More so than the evil Americans.

He met his brother for lunch.  Then some friends came by to play.  So, they decided to GO TO THE BORDER at the crossing site and "play".  I guess the brother didn't really need that job handling luggage at a border crossing.

Wait? What?!?!  This isn't an airport!!  What need is there for 3rd parties, or in an official capacity, to handle the border crosser's luggage?  Shouldn't they be carrying it themselves?  As they WALK across the border-bridge?  This makes no sense to me.

But, back to lil' Sergio.  (Isn't that an italian name?)  So, he just wanted to go play with his brother with the little red firetruck in the sand, and "that's why they killed him", according to Sergio's mother.  Hmmm.  Yes, because the Border Patrol KNEW that the kids were coming.  The Border Patrol KNEW he had his little red firetruck and just wanted to play in the sand.  They KNEW.  And they killed him for it.

Because the Border Patrol kills anyone even approaching the border from the Mexico side.

And now, sad momma is left without anything.  She was robbed of her one and only child.  She has nothing left at all.  No other kids.  No husband.  No home.  No life whatsoever.  It's a sad, sad tale.

Now, a dose of reality is needed:

T.J. Bonner, president of the union representing Border Patrol agents, said rock throwing aimed at Border Patrol agents are common and capable of causing serious injury.

"It is a deadly force encounter, one that justifies the use of deadly force," Bonner said.

The violence in Mexico combined with assaults on Border Patrol agents in the U.S. has increased the level of apprehension agents have about their safety, Bonner said.

I really hope and pray that the BP union stands up firmly and defends these guys.  More so than they did with Ramos and Campion.  Times and policies have got to change when it comes to protecting our border and our Border Patrol guards.  They put themselves and their lives on the line every day.  They need our full backing.

[UPDATE 1]  There are some further updates to this story.

Pointing their rifles, Mexican security forces chased away U.S. authorities investigating the shooting of a 15-year-old Mexican by a U.S. Border Patrol agent on the banks of the Rio Grande, the FBI and witnesses told The Associated Press on Wednesday.
Shortly after the boy was shot, Mexican soldiers arrived at the scene and pointed their guns at the Border Patrol agents across the riverbank while bystanders screamed insults and hurled rocks and firecrackers, FBI spokeswoman Andrea Simmons said. She said the agents were forced to withdraw.
Alejandro Pariente, Chihuahua state's regional deputy attorney general, said the U.S. Border Patrol has given him video which he is reviewing. He declined to describe it except to say that it has sped up the investigation.

Why do they get rifles?!?  Now that is not fair.  Well, we are the USSA.  If the Border Patrol has already given the Mexican authorities the video, then it must FULLY support our side.  Perhaps, we can even use it to influence Mexico.

If you've seen the pictures from the wake, it doesn't look like a "14 year old kid" unless 6 feet tall with a full moustache is the new look .

"If he's throwing hand sized rocks at my head and he looks 18 then I can shoot him, but if he looks 16 I have to let him try to kill me."

What did David slay Goliath with again?
