Wow: 200 Year Old Ship Found at WTC Site

While excavating the ground underneath the former World Trade Center site in New York, workers stumbled across the wreckage of a sunken 18th century ship:

In the middle of tomorrow, a great ribbed ghost has emerged from a distant yesterday.

On Tuesday morning, workers excavating the site of the underground vehicle security center for the future World Trade Center hit a row of sturdy, upright wood timbers, regularly spaced, sticking out of a briny gray muck flecked with oyster shells.

Be sure to click on through for the rest of the story, and some fascinating photos. As I always like to say, History always shows up when you least expect it!

(Thanks to Ronin @ Jawa, whom is apparently un-fired this week.)

Hmmmm... great.  another reason to delay building on that site.  We should have had 10 buildings up by now.

You know the guys who build the Sears Tower, the Chrysler Building and the Empire State Building are all looking down on us, laughing, spitting, and grumbling at what we have become.

AND THEY BUILT TWO OF THOSE BUILDINGS DURING SEVERE DEPRESSIONS!!!

I am ashamed.
