Yep. Yes fine folks, the country of Canada thinks more of its fine citizens than the country of USA. Why? Because the Canadian gov't has issued a travel warning to America's border with Mexico. They are telling their citizens that that area is very dangerous and highly volatile.
Canadians should avoid travelling near Mexico’s northern border with the U.S. because of continued violence linked to drug trafficking in the area, Foreign Affairs warns.
In a post on its website, Foreign Affairs advised Canadians that “shootouts, attacks and illegal roadblocks may occur at any time.”
Criminals have been targeting SUVs and pickup trucks for theft and carjacking in the states of Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, Baja California, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Sonora, and Sinaloa, the post says.
Travellers should avoid non-essential travel to border states and enter Mexico by air.
What has USA done to protect its citizens?
Protect? Why protect when there isn't a problem!!
Heck, for that matter, ... What border!??!
He was tried and convicted on trumped-up charges in a Stalinist Show Trial, but fortunately not jailed!
Oh No. Really?
That doesn't sound like the USA that I know. The USA that I know would have jailed him right as soon as that fake show trial had ended.
As is the case in America, we have seperate proceedings for the conviction and sentencing phases of a trial. Since I have not seen any results showing his conviction, I can only assume they let him off with probation, or it has not occurred yet.

So, I was right. Jail term suspended and given probation.
Now, the USA isn't the best and freest country in the land when it comes to respecting people's rights, but then, YOU weren't attacked several times by terrorists. And under constant attack on its southern border.
Why isn't Canada warning its citizens about avoiding unnecessary travel to the United States, particularly those holding dual citizenship in Arab countries? It wasn't that long ago that Canadian Maher Arar, returning home from Europe stopped at New York City's JFK Airport to change flights to Ottawa, where he resides, and was seized by U.S. agents, held incommunicado for three weeks, deported to Syria where he was tortured for nearly a year and only allowed to return home after being cleared of terrorism by the Syrian government. Arar was cleared of any involvement in terrorism after a thorough investigation by a Canadian government commission.
Then nearly a year ago, science-fiction author Dr. Peter Watt suffered an unprovoked beating by jack-booted thugs of the U.S. border Gestapo at Port Huron, Michigan while attempting to return home from the U.S.! He was tried and convicted on trumped-up charges in a Stalinist Show Trial, but fortunately not jailed!
Just as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs cautions Canadians to avoid unnecessary travel to dangerous places, such as the U.S./Mexican border, it should caution them that travel to the U.S. is done at one's own peril!
