We here at Ye Old SnappedShot have been telling you about the hypocrisy of the "green" socialistic movement. Specifically, we have been showing you how the myth that "going green" will save the planet from destruction.
Over these last few months we have showed you how the Government and Obama have lied to the American people, and continue to lie to us, about what the Chevrolet Volt is built with and is capable of. Or not!
But now, there seems to be more revelations coming out.

We've shown you how the car does not get 230 miles per gallon. It actually gets anywhere from 20 to 40 miles per gallon depending on driving conditions. Which is a very large margin for such a high technological piece of machinery. Even modern V8 powered trucks mileage is within +/- 10mpg, depending on whether the driver is doing mainly city or back-country driving.
We've shown you how the car does not get 40-50 miles on a charge without ever using a drop of gas. Should the battery get below 40% [ED: it now seems that this level is 65%]or your speed gets to 70mph, the engine will kick on. If you drive in very hilly conditions, with the heater or A/C cranked on, radio on, Ipod plugged in, defroster turned on, then as they say, "your mileage may vary".
All of those "conveniences" are going to suck that battery dry faster than not.
We've shown you how the costs are not negligible to charge the vehicle, even at home. The car requires an expensive charging station with professional wiring job. The public charging stations are not secure, safe or guaranteed.
You could be billed while someone else is using the power cord when you're gone. Or, users could face a shocking revelation as to how safe it is to charge your car with 240volts during a rainstorm.
We've shown you how those lifetime batteries are not lifetime. They only carry an 8 year warranty. How much is it going to cost to replace the batteries after that? And, as it appears, you would have to remove the vehicles complete upper body from the frame in order to access the batteries.
We've shown you how the engine that powers the electrical plant on the Volt is the same engine in the base model of the Chevy Cruze (another hat-tip to Mexico?). That engine itself gets 40 miles per gallon by itself. Why throw on tens of thousands of dollars more in nonesense when the Cruz can and should sell like HOTCAKES for only $17,000.
We've also showed you how even operating this car in battery mode is not free. It costs to charge your car at 240volts. It costs to charge your car for 8 hours at 120 volts while at work or shopping.
And, if you park in large parking lots or in parking garages while you are at your job, you might want to think about how to charge that vehicle. If you have to pay a meter to park in your lot, then just expect to pay more for the benefit of electricity too.
We've shown you how you have nearly no space in the 10 cubic foot trunk, compared to the over 15 cubic feet in its sibling Cruze's trunk.
Government Motors' all-electric car isn't all-electric and doesn't get near the touted hundreds of miles per gallon. Like "shovel-ready" jobs, maybe there's no such thing as "plug-ready" cars either.
Advertised as an all-electric car that could drive 50 miles on its lithium battery, GM addressed concerns about where you plug the thing in en route to grandma's house by adding a small gasoline engine to help maintain the charge on the battery as it starts to run down. It was still an electric car, we were told, and not a hybrid on steroids.
That's not quite true. The gasoline engine has been found to be more than a range-extender for the battery. Volt engineers are now admitting that when the vehicle's lithium-ion battery pack runs down and at speeds near or above 70 mph, the Volt's gasoline engine will directly drive the front wheels along with the electric motors. That's not charging the battery — that's driving the car.
So it's not an all-electric car, but rather a pricey $41,000 hybrid that requires a taxpayer-funded $7,500 subsidy to get car shoppers to look at it.
So, now we go from an all-electric vehicle with an engine that only operates to charge the battery, to one that also drives the wheels.
It would seem that the new-fangled battery pack and the electric drive motors are incable of highway speed and mountainous driving.

In 2008, candidate Obama pledged to put 1 million plug-in vehicles on the road by 2015. Not likely. It was a tough sell when we thought it was all-electric and could get 230 mpg. It will be a tougher sell now that we find it's a glorified Prius with the price tag of a BMW that seats only four because of a battery that runs down the center of the car.
President Obama likes to talk about not giving the GOP back the keys to the car. It's his industrial policy and central planning that have driven us into the ditch.
[UPDATE] It now appears that the engine will now kick in and power the wheels much sooner than the previous article suggested. Now, when you drive for a while at 40mph, the engine will kick in. AT 40MPH!?!?!?!? What is the point then of the battery pack???
