The Ghost of Snapped Shot

Or, welcome to my low-maintenance heck.

Was This The Country You Were Looking For?

Seriously.  Ask yourself that question tonight after you look at these news stories and more.

First up from our friend and loyal confidant, Sen Harry Reid:

In the most recent ad that was released on Friday, the incumbent stepped up the criticism a notch and made it more personal: In contrast to his standing as a "fighter" for Nevada, she is a "pathological" liar about Reid and where she wants to take the country.

Of course, written descriptions can't do justice to the tableau of sounds, colors, images and editing techniques that are crucial to determine the effectiveness of the ad
At various points and to an eerie tinkling piano soundtrack, it depicts an empty playground swing, a casket being carried to a grave, and CityCenter going dark, all the supposed consequences of Angle's positions.

"It shows a casket and essentially says if Angle is elected you are going to die of cancer," Hanley said. "In the advertising world, sex and death sells and this one goes straight to death."
Through various techniques, its message is that Reid is a good guy and Angle is unhinged.  In bold block lettering it associates her with the word "pathological" -- twice.

In other words, Sharon Angle is mentally disturbed and only wants you to die.  Sound familiar?

Up next we have some friendly news from our Little Havanah on the Seas: Club Gitmo:

GUANTANAMO BAY NAVY BASE, Cuba — A military jury on Sunday gave teen terrorist Omar Khadr a 40-year prison sentence for killing an American commando in Afghanistan...

What's so bad about that you say?  Isn't that what we were wanting, you say?  You would be right, but, ..."this isn't the country you were looking for!!"

but the sentence was merely symbolic — the United States already had agreed to limit Khadr's prison time to eight years, and Canada last week said it would allow Khadr to serve the bulk of his sentence there.

And some reports have him able to file for early release as early as 30 months!!!

The widow of his victim, Tabitha Speer, 40, cheered "yes," and then wept.  "He will forever be a murderer my eyes,'' Speer said.

The 40-year sentence, even though it will never be enforced, provided a sense of finality, she said -- along with assurances that Khadr would never be allowed to enter the United States or ride on an airplane.

The seven-officer jury was unaware that Khadr's sentence had already been set before they began deliberating Saturday.

Jurors were told only that Guantánamo's youngest captive had pleaded guilty to five war crimes, including hurling the grenade that mortally wounded Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Speer, 28, during a July 2002 assault on an al Qaeda compound. Khadr was 15.

The prosecution sought a 25-year sentence. Defense lawyers recommended repatriation.

In a rebuke, the jury said he should be imprisoned until age 64.

Well, I guess only Obama got what he wanted out of the deal.  Can we expect him to be re-civilized or will he return to a life of hating America like other fanatical muslims?

Next up on our whirlwind tour of this country as we now know it, comes this tasty bit:

Bailed out insurer American International Group will get up to $22 billion more in U.S. taxpayer funds to facilitate its restructuring and prepare for an eventual government exit, the U.S. Treasury said on Monday.

But the Treasury reiterated that it expects the government to earn an overall profit on bailout investments in the insurance giant -- once as high as $180 billion -- assuming the AIG restructuring announced on September 30 is executed.

AIG will draw the $22 billion from remaining Troubled Asset Relief Program funds to repurchase Federal Reserve preferred stock interests in the special purpose vehicles holding two key subsidiaries being sold off, AIA Group Ltd and American Life Insurance Co (ALICO), the Treasury said in a statement.

Did you understand any of that?  Nope?  Neither did I.  But what I did understand I did not like.  Why does AIG need another $22 BILLION dollars from us in order to get out from under Government control?  That doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever.

And, I don't like that "repurchase" sound to all of this either.  Something flaky is going on here.

And last, but certainly not least with this current crop of... well... Democrats, comes this:

( - A teen's spirit week stunt has landed him in hot water.

Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School Senior Dan Depaolis, dressed in medieval garb, rode a horse into the school's parking lot as part of spirit week.

What he, and his parents, thought was a good-natured stunt, the school deemed dangerous. Depaolis was suspended from school for two days.

The vice principal allegedly suspended the 17-year-old even after the boy’s father explained that the horse was brought in on a trailer and that no one was in danger.

The father tells FOX25 the school compared the stunt to bringing a “loaded firearm” to school and that he and his wife were shocked to hear about the suspension, saying that the 1100-pound horse, named Pierre, would never hurt a fly.

Oh come on.  Please!!!  It is spirit week and stunts and skits and all kinds of things go on.  Seriously, you suspend a student for choosing a "green" form of alternative transportation?  Shouldn't he be applauded for not contributing to global warming through the use of fossil fuels?

People, is this the country you really wanted to change in to?  Are these the types of people you want running your government?  Are you happy about your unemployment or lost house?

Are you happy that you can't even afford groceries any more because somebody wanted to use that corn to power their $50,000 car?  (side note: went to Arby's today and noticed that they have raised their prices by nearly $2 on their sandwich combos)

Cast your vote for a true limited-government out-of-your-hair Conservative this November 2.  And make sure you do that for all races.

Elections count my friends.  Make your local community elections count.
