This is trivial, but people should know that using one's left hand is perfectly alright to cover the heart, if your right hand or arm is, for some reason, not available for use (for example due to a stroke, or being attached to an IV drip, etc.)
With all of the disabled VETs returning to the US, citizens should be aware that, should they see some fellow using his left hand over his heart during some ceremony, he is likely partially paralyzed, or has a prosthesis.
