Birds take to the air.
To anyone who suggests that there is no "art" in news photography, I submit this excellent composition by Reuters stringer Max Rossi as evidence to the contrary. Contrasting a heron to a Blackhawk, for whatever reasons, serves as a strikingly beautiful way of reporting what's going on in the world today.
Well done, Mr. Rossi!
A heron flies as a U.S. helicopter takes off from the tarmac of the Sigonella NATO Airbase on the southern Italian island of Sicily March 21, 2011. Italy urged its allies to bring military operations in Libya under NATO command on Monday, warning that otherwise it may resume separate national control of airbases it has authorised for use in the mission.
