It's all downhill from here!
I don't know what it is about this time of year, but it always seems to hit me this way. The brown trees along with the schizophrenic weather, or the frequent bouts of fleeting Spring-itis, or whatever it is—perhaps it'd be a good idea to shutter this blog every April, just to avoid it altogether from here on out.
Any of you have the same problem? I'm not the only person out here who deals with this, am I?
Anyway, I know things have been pretty lame around here at Snapped Shot for a long while now. I've mostly been phoning it in, as you've probably noticed. Well, not completely, but it's definitely not been the best of Snapped Shot, if you know what I mean. But now that we've gotten the annual depression out of the way, here's what I'm hoping to accomplish as we get things back into high gear over here!
Photos: I know it might seem boring to most of you out there, but wire service photography is still one of my favorite subjects in the entire world. There's so much out there to critique, and so much to praise, that I could literally show you thousands of photos a day and still not run out of things to say about them. Well, perhaps the lawyers would put a stop to thousands, but still—I hope you don't mind, but I will be doing my best to bring a larger set of interesting things for you to see, and I'll be looking harder for things that are off-kilter, just because I love doing it so much. But, to appease those of you who aren't amused by this sort of thing, there will also be more:
Writing: I plan on spending a lot more time trying to write longform again. Like this, even. Most of you probably don't remember, but that used to be something that Snapped Shot could pull off once in a while. Spending time going in-depth about some subject or another that's bothering me. More than the quick one-two blurb that usually accompanies one of our regular subjects of discussion. Making more of an effort to be a literate blogger, rather than a button-pusher that I've been for at least a year now. I need to put more time and effort into making this work, and so I'll definitely be doing more of that. But wait, that's not all!
Tomfoolery: I remember spending hours in the evening trying to find a video wacky enough to highlight on our periodic Happy Fridays. Or spending time putting together mockeries of Kim Jong-Il, or any of the hundreds of other dictators around the world that are totally worthy of being mocked. And spending plenty of time putting together little laughs in Photoshop. We haven't done much of this at all around here, but from here on out, I'll try to pick up where I left off.
And who knows? Maybe I'll even get around to continuing that silly little microstory I started forever and a half ago—Back when I as sporting a fantastically-awful (but ironically much easier to type on) Blackberry Storm.
Anyway, I hope you'll stick around—okay, I hope you'll come back, actually—and join us here at Snapped Shot, as I do my best to bring this forlorn little bloggy back to life. I look forward to plenty of adventures to come!
