Snapped Shot

Always Watching the All-Seeing Eye

Q. What do Yasser Arafat, Al Gore, and Barack Obama have in common?

A terrorist leader, a dullard, and a do-nothing have more in common than you might think. Especially now that the do-nothing has won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize, despite the fact that he has yet to accomplish anything at all.

My favorite part of this morning's announcement is who Reuters decided to go to in order to get a note of criticism over the award:

The Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip and opposes a peace treaty with Israel, said the award was premature at best.

"Obama has a long way to go still and lots of work to do before he can deserve a reward," said Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri. "Obama only made promises and did not contribute any substance to world peace. And he has not done anything to ensure justice for the sake of Arab and Muslim causes."

Once again, the World's Most Irrelevant Award proves how worthless it truly is.

Be sure to hop over to these other guys for additional commentary: Dan Riehl (who broke the news via my inbox), Confederate Yankee, Jules Crittenden and more to come, I'm sure.

Shocka: Palestinian Zoo Last Used as Missile Storage Facility!

Well, I guess this is only a "shocka" if you forget to consider that in the Gaza Strip, hospitals are used as missile storage facilities, and elementary schools are used as missile storage facilities, and apartment buildings are used as missile storage facilities, and innocent mosques are used as missile storage facilities, and... well, you get the point.

But still, bonus points to Aussie Dave for catching this little coinkydink!

Fraudulent Art in the White House?

An enterprising art-enthusiast FReeper has discovered a fraudulent painting amongst Barack Obama's new White House collection. While Beelzebubba didn't post both images together, I managed to throw together the following animation, which definitely shows that the layout of the two pieces is identical.

I'm not sure if I'd go so far as to call it a out-and-out "copy," but I'm no art expert.

More importantly: What do you think? Continue reading »

Stand By For A Secret Message From Your Host

And no, the answer is not "o-v-a-l-t-i-n-e."

From the "Let's Make Liberals Cringe" Files

Drake Dunaway presents a 100% effective, guaranteed-to-work vaccine against AIDS—all while taking a totally undeserved swipe at Thomas Kinkaide.

I don't know about you, but I'm thinking that now'd be a good time to grab a bag of popcorn.

DAY OF RAGE Alert!

Carl in Jerusalem informs us that we all need to be on the lookout for Rage Boys all the world over. Mark your calendars for this Friday, because:

"Israel Radio reports that Hamas has called for a 'day of rage' in Jerusalem on Friday to 'protect' Jerusalem. Magen David Adom - Israel's version of the Red Cross - has raised its alert for Friday to the highest level possible."

To which I refer you to my good friend DayLife. If y'all see anything mockworthy, please don't hesitate to call!

PETA Alert: Animal Abuse in Palestine?

One wonders what the indomitable nonpareils of Norfolk would think of this one:

Palestinian boys ride dyed donkeys at Marah Land zoo in Gaza City October 8, 2009. Two white donkeys dyed with black stripes delighted Palestinian kids at a small Gaza zoo on Friday who had never seen a zebra in the flesh. A genuine zebra would have been too expensive to bring into Israel-blockaded Gaza via the smuggling tunnels under the border with Egypt, said zoo owner Mohammed Bargouthi. Is a dyed donkey deserving of divergent discourse? Or is a painted pony as pleased as a pickle at his precious new apparel?

(On a completely unrelated note, it would seem that somebody has finally had enough coffee to activate his trusty thesaurus.)

Beating Photographer's Block to the Punch

John Sevigny has started a series on Blackstar on how you can defeat "Photographer's Block." Judging by his methodology, I suspect it'd work a lot better than "Spike photographer's block's Mountain Dew," which would be the best I could come up with before consuming my regular amount of coffee. And that's why I highly recommend reading John's series, since he's clearly better at this than I am!

That reminds me—Did you know you can defeat writer's block... with photography?

I did exactly that a little while back. The only question now is whether I can put the experience to words. In one hand I have a camera; in another, someone else's Mountain Dew.

We'll just have to see how this story goes from there.

The Hidden Costs of ObamaCare

Better late than never I guess.

Back in September, around the 10th, David Axelrod of Obama's administration talked to Wolf Blitzer on CNN. You have probably seen the video already. Hot Air had a post about it. Rush Limbaugh tore David a new one on his radio show on September 22. Everyone is calling it a lie. It may very well be.

Allow me to quote the key point beyond the break. Continue reading »

You Forgot To Mention Ace...

Ace puts up a post about Pelosi and her quest for a VAT like all other Socialized nations. (Ask the Canadians how they feel about theirs. Be prepared for a rant)

Ace: Did you forget that she is just misdirecting? She makes people believe that this will save money by adding a tax so that the producers don't have to raise their prices in order to pay for their employee benefits.

How does this make any sense except to a liberal dunderhead.

How will products be cheaper if you take off benefits cost for producers but then increase their TAXES on each stage of a products life?

If a car costs $10,000 for a consumer, it might be cheaper if the automaker does not have to add the costs of employee benefits. But, if you then turn around and charge a Value Added Tax on each stage of a car's components creation, so that in the end each individual component sees multiple taxation points, then the price of that car will actually INCREASE for consumers.

Once again, this is a blatant and obvious attempt to quash capitalism and profit and the lifestyles that Americans have known and grown to love. Pure anti-American ideology at work.

Postmodern Headline of the Day

This entry comes from beautiful Decatur, Alabama:

Decatur police search for second suspect in gang-style shooting at Funland Park

Seriously.

How many of you out there could imagine growing up that you'd ever see "gang-style shooting" and "funland park" (or some variation thereof) in a headline?

If this is all we get for the 40 years of progressive immigration-policy tinkering that our country's been subjected to, then I think we can all stand up and say that we've been robbed.

It's Not Terrorism Alert: Anonymous Car Filled with Explosives Impounded in CT

I say "Anonymous" because the police and media are obviously not interested in bringing relevant details in front of you readers:

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Police stopped a motorist driving a car full of explosives in Connecticut late Tuesday.

Police said the car was carrying pipe bombs, rifles and a propane tank when they stopped it in New Haven at 11:30 p.m., according to FOX 61.

...

A silver Mercedes was towed away from the scene. Police arrested a suspect, but they did not release his name, FOX 61 reported.

Those confounded terrorist Mercedeses will be the death of us all!

R-MEW Blog Does My Work For Me

This is exactly the kind of post that Snapped Shot used to be all about.

Which reminds me—I hope y'all don't hold my slacking against us. We're working on some really cool stuff behind the scenes here, which I'm hoping to reveal very soon.

Very, very soon...

When Lucy Pulls The Fast One....On Health Care

You know Lucy. The evil-incarnate anti-hero to Charlie Brown. She loves to seemingly provide a service, an offer, to Charlie Brown but in the end, she happily refuses to deliver.

This guy, Gary Woltal (have no idea who he is), calls it the Lucy-Charlie Brown Effect. He says:

It all has to do with "attachment" to an expectation. Charlie Brown attaches to the fact that he "thinks" Lucy will hold the football and he can kick it. The way the world really works is she may let him kick it or may pull the ball away.

Unhappiness comes from a death grip in your mind attaching what you think the outcome will be.

It would seem that people's refusal to see this ObamaCare for what it is, is because of the Lucy-Charlie Brown Effect. They are attached to an expectation that things will continue on as they have. That things will, no, MUST get better. Because it just would not make sense that anything could change. Continue reading »
