Intra-Fada: Partner in Peace Edition™

It would appear that the "moderate" political/militant faction of Fatah is having something of a falling-out with the "radical" militant/militant Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades. I'm not sure I'll ever figure out which side to root for here, so I'll hedge my bets:

Go bullets, Go!

Be sure to pay close attention to the loving care these militants show towards their unarmed populace. Especially if your first name happens to be Condoleeza.

The Religion of Peace (and guns)

Whoever said that girls are discriminated against in Islam? They seem perfectly free to me. Case in point:

What a bunch of humanitarians these guys are, eh? Continue reading »

"Abu Ammar Brigades" Rises Again?

You might remember a brief discussion about a new offshoot of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades sometime this past May. In fact, less than 24 hours after "Abu Ammar Brigades"—named after Chairman Arafat, of course—was formed, its newly-minted leader was killed in record time by "unknown" assailants. And then, it seemed, the rest of the group quickly followed.

With that, it's amusing to note that, thanks to the efforts of our intrepid (and seditious) photographer Mohammed Ballas (the COWARD), we've been informed that Abu Ammar Brigades lives on.

Al Aqsa Glowing Tribute: A Hamas Reaction

How fortunate for us to have such vaunted news services. Mere hours after their puff-photography of the bloodthirsty killers of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, we plebians are treated to a most balanced reaction from the bloodthirsty killers of Hamas.

Masked Palestinian gunmen from Hamas speak at a press conference criticizing Fatah gunmen in the West Bank who gave up their weapons, in Gaza City, Monday, July 16, 2007. Scores of Fatah militants in the West Bank signed a pledge renouncing attacks against Israel in return for an Israeli promise to stop pursuing them, a Palestinian security official said Sunday, July 15, 2007.(AP Photo/Khalil Hamra)

Of course, it's very fitting that Hamas would mock anyone for wanting to make peace with the Zionist entity. After all, it's not like we expect Hamas to suddenly become peaceful. How odd it is, though, that the Associated Press feels compelled to transmit their mockery world-wide as bona-fide news.

Humanizing the Unhuman

Here's a touching tribute to Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, courtesy their admirers in the Associated Press.

Palestinian Zakareia Zubaidi, a local leader of Al-Aqsa martyrs brigades, poses for a picture in an undisclosed location in the West Bank town of Jenin Saturday July, 14 2007. There's no doubt that these journalists have known the identities of this Al-Aqsa cell for quite a long time. Heck, Emilio was even kidnapped by them, yet remained in the area. Does that tell you anything?

Update: The AP has added a second glowing series to its portfolio. One wonders if they're charging Al-Aqsa for their professional portraiture services:

Abu Qassam, a militant from the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, a militia linked to the Fatah movement, sits with one of his children at his home in the West Bank refugee camp of Jenin, Monday, July 16, 2007. Abu Qassam is not one of the many Fatah militants in the West Bank that signed a pledge renouncing attacks against Israel in return for an Israeli promise to stop pursuing them, a Palestinian security official said. Abu Qassam, of course, is a nom de guerre, not to be confused with an actual identity. His continued avowal to destroy Israel just might have something to do with his reluctance to identify himself. I suppose that this is Mohammed Ballas the terror supporter's preferred method of being "fair and balanced"—After presenting someone who pretends to stop killing Jews, he felt compelled to show someone who still openly aids and abets Israel's destruction. You've gotta admire that good ol' impartiality, huh?

As always, the rest of this photographic adventure can be found beyond the fold.

A Simple Explanation

Here's how people get hurt in the "occupied" Palestinian territories:

A member of the Fatah force takes up position with a rocket propelled grenade during clashes with Hamas militants at Rafah camp in the southern Gaza Strip June 7, 2007. Rival Hamas and Fatah forces clashed in the Gaza Strip, killing at least one person and injuring 12 others, in the worst flare-up of factional fighting in almost three weeks. Notice the proximity of this "militant" to a residential area? All of the photos I've seen so far are fairly close-cropped, so it's not clear whether there are any civilians milling about, but as we've seen before, there usually are. (With thanks to Yishai for the link!)

I'll be tracking the rest of the photos related to this latest bout of "factional" fighting. It will truly be interesting to see which group our various photographers embed themselves with. I'll be keeping a scoreboard beyond the fold, if you want to play along at home! Continue reading »

Mission Accomplished: They got Jughead!

Sometimes the best titles come to you when you're stuck in a car... Orig. title: Al Aqsa Liquidation Continues?

Remember our identify this terrorist article from way back? It seems that somebody was listening...

A Palestinian militant from Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades stands in front of a poster showing a member of the group who died during a rally marking the deaths of its members killed over the years in the conflict with Israel in the West Bank city of Nablus, Friday, June 1, 2007. Israeli and Palestinian leaders are to meet next week in the Palestinian territories for the first time in a bid to restore a shattered cease-fire in the Gaza Strip, a senior Palestinian official said. (AP Photo/Muhammed Muheisen)

I know I said I'd miss the little retard, but I never expected to actually see him go.

Score one for the good guys! (You can find more discussion of Al Aqsa's demise here and here, if you'd like...)

Update: Are any of y'all facial recognition experts? Does this photo look like our guy to you? It does to me.

If it is him, that would connect him to the former Abu Amar Martyr's Brigade, which would definitely make my Theory #2 far more plausible...

Double Update: More pictures of the "Martyrs' Rally" are coming in now. Feel free to peruse them, beyond the fold!

Curses, foiled again!

Ah Well: It would seem that our Jughead (aka Amin Lubadi) passed away sometime around the 23rd of April, long before the latest little spat of violence against Al Aqsa members. Drat!

Relatives carry the body of Amin Lubadi during his funeral in the West Bank town of Nablus, 22 April 2007. Israeli troops shot dead two gunmen from the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades today during an Israeli operation which resulted in heavy exchanges of fire in Nablus. Palestinian security sources identified one of the two men as Amin Lubadi, 25 and Fadel Nur, 23. AFP PHOTO/JAAFAR ASHTIYEH
