Cheerleading for the Terrorists

The photo news wires are filled with pictures of another 200 or so Palestinian prisoners who have been freed from Israeli jails as a "goodwill" measure towards the Palestinian Authority. As others have pointed out, these guys aren't exactly innocent bystanders who were rounded up by a military state; but rather, most of them were incarcerated in the process of planning and carrying out terrorist attacks.

How does our "impartial" press choose to represent them?

You guessed it: As heroes.

If we can't trust the press to tell us truthfully about murderous thugs in the Middle East, why do we think they'll be more honest about any other topic?

Update: A loving embrace. Thankfully, the AP actually provides some details on this one:

A released Palestinian prisoner Said al-Atba kisses his mother as he arrives at her home in the west bank city of Nablus, Monday, Aug. 25, 2008. Among the 198 Palestinians freed by Israel was Said al-Atba, who served 31 years of a life sentence for masterminding a 1977 market bombing that killed one woman and wounded dozens of others in central Israel. Al-Atba, 57, was the longest serving Palestinian inmate in Israel and is widely seen by Palestinians as a symbol of all the prisoners. (AP Photo/Nasser Ishtayeh)

So as far as we can tell, he was not wrongfully convicted, and he did have a hand in killing Jews.

Notice that this fact doesn't stop the AP from running with this glowing portrait as "news."

Update: Soccer Dad has more background on why attempts like this are utterly futile.

Like Fathers, Like Sons

Here is a typical photo of this year's Hamas "scout" camp graduation ceremony. I don't know about you, but it doesn't look anything like what I remember going through in the Boy Scouts, nor do I remember watching adults go through any similar ceremony here in the "hegemonic" United States,

It does, however, closely resemble certain other graduation ceremonies.

It's interesting to note that my friend Muhammed Muheisen and his editors at the Associated Press still try to pass this off as a typically peaceful "scouts" camp.

And yet, Israeli soldiers are still the ones being portrayed as violent.

Update: Haha, Aussie Dave points out that one of the Hamas "scouts" seems to have a striking resemblance to Jennifer Anniston.

Daily Dose of Irony

The caption on this photo, [Ed.:—Daylife link is now live. AP Images link here, in case you want to license it.] taken by friend of Snapped Shot Muhammed Muheisen, reads:

Palestinians burn an Israeli flag during a demonstration to commemorate the Nakba, or the catastrophe, the Arabic term used to describe the uprooting of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians with the 1948 creation of the state of Israel, near Kalandia checkpoint, between Jerusalem and the West Bank city of Ramallah, Wednesday May 14, 2008. A few dozen Palestinians threw stones at Israeli police at the checkpoint. Police said they responded with riot control tactics, and the force was seen firing tear gas at the crowd. (AP Photo/Muhammed Muheisen)

Notice, however, that the text on the t-shirt of one of our "compassionate" youth's reads:

CHAZON MISSION

JEWISH FEDERATION OF
GREATER FT. LAUDERDALE

Those dastardly Zionists and their infernal clothing donations have struck again!

Worldwide Anti-Annapolis Protests: Day 1

It would seem that the entire ummah is on fire in protest against the farce of a conference in Annapolis. Finally, I am in agreement with the ummah on something (though I'd imagine for far different reasons). The highlight of today's protests? Perhaps the coolest portrait of Condoleeza Rice ever published, even outshining my previous fave:

Jordanian protesters hold pictures of U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice during a protest in Amman November 27, 2007, against the Middle East peace conference in Annapolis, Maryland. U.S. President George W. Bush opens a high-stakes Israeli-Palestinian peace conference on Tuesday, trying to achieve in his final 14 months in office a goal that has eluded U.S. leaders for decades. I'll be rounding up the other highlights from around the world following the fold. Stay tuned for more!

Update: Someone has definitely been very busy spreading the propaganda about the Annapolis conference. Notice how all of these protests suggest that somehow, the United States and Israel are either conspiring to revoke the "right" of return, or how we're conspiring to seize Al-Aqsa. Very interesting coincidences, no?

(Regarding the "right" of return:—Keep in mind that with respect to any "peace" conference assembled, Palestinians demand an independent state of their own on one hand, yet they demand that Palestinian "refugees" maintain the "right" to return to Israel on the other. Sound confusing? Yeah, it might be—until you take a look at which map they are working from... It's all about "conquest," people. Nothing more, nothing less.)

UPDATE: According to the latest captions coming in, a man has been killed by Fatah security forces in Hebron, after being shot point-blank in the chest. Reports are that 15 other protesters have also been injured in the area—no specifics or details on them yet. Continue reading »

Muhammed Muheisen, Siding with the Terrorists

Muhammed Muheisen of the Associated Press, and "friend" of Snapped Shot, covers an anti-Israeli protest in only the most impartial way:

A masked Palestinian demonstrator uses a sling-shot to throw stones at Israeli soldiers during a demonstration against Israel's separation barrier in the West Bank village of Bilin, near Ramallah, Friday, Nov. 2, 2007. Israel says the barrier is necessary for security, Palestinians call it a land grab. (AP Photo/Muhammed Muheisen)

I will say this: I'm very pleased to see that neither Muhammed nor his counterparts at the AP Editorial Desk tried to pass this off as a "peaceful" protest. Keep up the good work, M.!

Too Cool for the Room

Head Hamas Fatah [Ed.:—Thanks, Aviv! More coffee for me...] thugocrat Mahmoud Abbas isn't bothered in the least by the repeated violence in the Gaza Strip (more on that shortly). Watch in amazement as he continues to keep his "cool:"

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, also known as Abu Mazen, wears a hat during Friday noon prayers outside his office in the West Bank city of Ramallah, Friday, Sept. 7, 2007. In several West Bank cities, Fatah supporters gathered for public Friday noon prayers in open areas to express solidarity with Fatah in Gaza. In the Gaza Strip, Hamas security forces armed with rifles and clubs beat Fatah supporters trying to hold street prayers to protest the Islamic group's rule in Gaza, in the latest episode in friction between the groups since Hamas' bloody seizure of power in Gaza in June. This week Hamas banned all public prayers. (AP Photo/Muhammed Muheisen)

I wonder if AP propagandist Muhammed Muheisen, who is something of a fan of this website, would take as glowing a portrait of President George W. Bush as this.

Associated Press promotes the Blogosphere?

One of this blog's very best friends has posted a photo to the newswire that slipped by me at first. Here's the original:

Palestinian youths walk by a section of Israel's separation barrier near the West Bank city of Ramallah, Tuesday, June 5, 2007, on the 40th anniversary of the start of the Six Day War. In the 1967 fighting, Israel seized the West Bank and part of Jerusalem from Jordan and the Gaza Strip from Egypt, putting it in control of land that some Israelis see as God-given and others see as a burden. (AP Photo/Muhammed Muheisen)

I made a mental note of it because it's an image that's been noted before, elsewhere along the wall. Leftists from all around the world are sure to scrawl just about any manner of propaganda that they can on the "apartheid" wall, so it wasn't unusual to see another shot of a familiar piece of graffiti. And then, I noticed the writing towards the centre of the picture, and pulled down a higher-resolution copy from the AP wire archives:

"www.bethlehemghetto.blogspot.com" Click to view full-size.

Apparently, our illustrious photographer has no qualms with using the Associated Press wire services to transmit what is essentially a free advertisement for an anti-Israeli blog. And the editors at the Associated Press have no qualms with publishing it.

Good to know that the AP has decided to start promoting the blogosphere. Congratulations to Bethlehem Bloggers for the success of their new, multi-billion dollar promotion. (If any of my Zionist friends wishes to "accidentally" spray an advertisement for Snapped Shot on that "racist" wall, I'd be gladly willing to pay peanuts for it. Maybe even donuts!)

As a bonus, I've posted the latest "Racist, Apartheid Graffiti" beyond the fold. Hope you enjoy the nutty propagandistic goodness! Continue reading »
