Tiresome

These photographers are not very original.

They may think they're providing cutting-edge commentary that the world will enjoy for years to come, but the sad truth is that it's all hackery that's been done before.

Not that I am allowed to show you the picture or anything.

Yet Another Tiresome Alignment

Nasser Shiyoukhi, of the wire-service-that-shall-remain-nameless, has taken yet another picture of Israeli soldiers, ruthlessly pointing their guns at some poooooor, innocent Palestinian children.

I'd love to show you the picture, but as you know, I can't. So I'll just have to send you over to Honest Reporting, who has it directly from a glorious half-page spread on the front page of the Globe and Mail.

For the record, Shiyoukhi has previously managed to align an Israeli soldier's gun with a Palestinian child's head here. 'Course, Nasser's not the first to do this—our own buddy Muhammed Muheissen did it too, though I don't think he appreciated my commentary on the matter at the time. (Not that I had put things in the most diplomatic of terms, of course... ;-) )

Update: Here's another tiresome alignment I'd love to show you, courtesy AP photographer Tara Todras-Whitehill. Of course, since it's an AP asset, I won't touch it with a 10-foot pole. (Yet.)

I covered a photo almost identical to this one way back during this protest, from Reuters photographer Ammar Awad. I think my commentary on the obviously propagandistic composure of this type of photograph is as accurate today as it was then, so forgive me for letting my previous quote stand:

Yeah, we get it, the EVIL ZIONIST ENTITY is a HORRIFIC ZIONIST POLICE STATE. Blah blah blah. But seriously, are obviously framed photographs like [this] really necessary?

Update again—I may not be able to show you the pictures, but I sure as heck can tag them. Rawwwwrrr!

Anti-Annapolis Protests: Day 2?

I'm not seeing much activity on the wires in terms of anti-Annapolis protests today. I'd say this is related to it, though: At the funeral for the man that was killed in the West Bank protests yesterday, "clashes" broke out between Fatah goons security forces and Hamas goons mourners.

Of course, I'll keep you posted if anything does manage to show up today.

Worldwide Anti-Annapolis Protests: Day 1

It would seem that the entire ummah is on fire in protest against the farce of a conference in Annapolis. Finally, I am in agreement with the ummah on something (though I'd imagine for far different reasons). The highlight of today's protests? Perhaps the coolest portrait of Condoleeza Rice ever published, even outshining my previous fave:

I'll be rounding up the other highlights from around the world following the fold. Stay tuned for more!

Update: Someone has definitely been very busy spreading the propaganda about the Annapolis conference. Notice how all of these protests suggest that somehow, the United States and Israel are either conspiring to revoke the "right" of return, or how we're conspiring to seize Al-Aqsa. Very interesting coincidences, no?

(Regarding the "right" of return:—Keep in mind that with respect to any "peace" conference assembled, Palestinians demand an independent state of their own on one hand, yet they demand that Palestinian "refugees" maintain the "right" to return to Israel on the other. Sound confusing? Yeah, it might be—until you take a look at which map they are working from... It's all about "conquest," people. Nothing more, nothing less.)

UPDATE: According to the latest captions coming in, a man has been killed by Fatah security forces in Hebron, after being shot point-blank in the chest. Reports are that 15 other protesters have also been injured in the area—no specifics or details on them yet. Continue reading »

Worse than Useless

In Brian's Grand Scheme of Things (patent pending), being used as a propaganda tool doesn't rank as a very intelligent thing to do. Oh and also, the EU is about 20 rungs down from the United Useless Nations.

You notice how our intrepid photographer managed to conceal the blatantly anti-American propaganda on the wall with a conveniently placed head or two? Continue reading »

Palestinian "Prisoner Day"

From the looks of the wires, it seems that the Palestinian Territories celebrated "Prisoner Day" over the past few days, organizing protests demanding the release of their "relatives," who are currently jailed in Israel for the mere crime of plotting for the death of the Jews and the destruction of the evil, Zionist, Apartheeeeeeid Israeli state.

To a "progressive" and wholly sympathetic press, this obviously doesn't arise to the horror of detention.

Perhaps I'm too much of a Neanderthal to understand the "nuance."

I can't imagine why Israel would want to imprison peace-loving people like this, other than for sullying the memory of Rambo.

Happy Day!

Nothing says "Happy International Women's Day" like a bunch of women whose husbands don't allow them to leave the house without head-to-toe coverings. And nothing says "celebration" like RIOTING in front of DA JOOS, apparently.

Boy, she looks really happy, doesn't she?

More "International Woman's Day" silliness following the break. Continue reading »

Brief Observations

Observation #1: There is no difference between "secret vice squads" and "mafia enforcers." And, by whatever name you choose to call them, they run the "Palestinian" territories.

Mohammed al-Shaer, 19, sits at his music shop in the town of Khan Younis southern Gaza Strip, Tuesday March 6, 2007. A note stuck to the door of his tiny music shop warned Mohammed al-Shaer several months ago that selling tapes and CDs of popular Arabic music was 'haram,' or forbidden by Islam. Al-Shaer paid no heed until a bomb went off outside his business this week — apparently the work of what Palestinian security officials now suspect may be a secret 'vice squad' of Muslim militants. (AP Photo/Adel Hana)

Observation #2: All of the "good intentions" in the world and $1.89 still only purchases a Venti Starbucks coffee. And "Good Intentions" plus $12 billion buys a lot of guns. It certainly won't do anything to appease those who hate you. With that in mind, notice the posters of "martyrs" which have been tacked on top of this "Feel Good" art project, along with the "pockmarks" in the poster, which I suspect are also not accidental. (It actually looks like someone had plastered other posters on top, and they had been removed.)

Paved with good intentions, indeed.

Selective Outrage Syndrome, Day OF RAGE!

A clear case of projection, if you ask me...
Rumour has it that there's a massive DAY OF ANGER!! (now where have I seen this before?) planned to protest the Israeli "destruction" of the al-Aqsa mosque. I haven't seen any photos of it yet, but considering that today is Friday, the Muslim holy day—and traditionally the day of the largest organized worldwide protests—I expect we'll be seeing quite a bit of action on the wires shortly.

Plenty of "anger" and "rage" are evident in the photographs, following the break. I ask you: Aside from "anger" and "rage," what else is there in the Muslim world?

Update: From what I can tell, there are two separate efforts underway. The primary is a large, "peaceful" protest, with plenty of flag-waving, propaganda posters, and other traditional elements of jihadi misinformation. The secondary seems to be an effort to goad the Israeli police into a firefight using "stone throwers" and other violent elements.

We shall see which side gets the greater coverage...

Previously on Snapped Shot: Selective Outrage Syndrome, Selective Outrage Syndrome, Day 2

Update: Here's the background on why all of this inflamed "protest" is genuinely fake. Thanks to LGF commenter BabbaZee for the link!

Update: In a rather interesting twist, it seems that this is a Palestinian day of RAGE, considering we haven't seen any action on the wires from Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, or any of the other usual hot spots. I'll keep an eye on the wires, of course, but I find it interesting that nothing's come across yet. Continue reading »

Y'all thought I was just kidding

... with my whole apartheid, racist wall schtick, didn't you?

Sadly, I wasn't.

A Palestinian Muslim worshipper on his way to Jerusalem's Al Aqsa Mosque walks past graffiti on Israel's separation barrier at a checkpoint in the West Bank town of Bethlehem, Friday, Oct. 20, 2006. Thousands of Palestinian women, children and middle-aged men surged through the main Israeli crossing from the West Bank into Jerusalem to worship at a major Islamic shrine on the last Friday of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan. Men under 45, deemed a potential security risk by Israel, were barred from Jerusalem, but hundreds tried to get in anyhow, citing a religious obligation to worship at Al Aqsa during Ramadan. [Ed.: Notice that there is no such obligation, but let's not let that interfere with Kevin's little propagandistic piece of garbage.] (AP Photo/Kevin Frayer)

The top photograph will show up in newspapers around the world. But does it reflect reality? Let's look a little bit closer:

Israeli border police stand guard as Palestinian worshippers wait in line at a section of Israel's separation barrier to cross from Ramallah towards Jerusalem on their way to pray in the Al Aqsa Mosque, at the Kalandia Checkpoint, Friday, Oct. 20, 2006. Palestinians trying to enter Jerusalem to attend prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and Israeli troops scuffled on Friday in several checkpoints between Jerusalem and the West Bank. Oof, is that the end of the wall that I see? Real "racist" there, ain't it?

The looming Palestinian civil war

Only a complete idiot would blame Israel for this.
It would appear that Hamas and Fatah are currently fighting over who will hold all of the reins in the Palestinian Territories. Much like competing mafia groups, neither is anything remotely "democratic," so whomever ends up in control of the PLC is most likely slated to be replaced by the next mob.

This is just more proof of the obvious—Israel has nothing to do with the "destitution" of the Palestinian people. Their situation is one entirely of their own making, and will quickly be improved, once they stop supporting the crooks who do stuff like you see in this photograph.

Don't expect this little newsflash to be picked up by the myopic press any time soon, though. For the first time ever, I'm sure they're actually stretching to come up with a reason to blame Israel for this mess.

Stay tuned - I'll be collecting all of the photographs here as the day progresses.

Wire Coverage: Associated Press, Reuters, NYT/IHT, USA Today

My absolute favorite article on this story is from marxist.com. Wait until you find out who THEY think the villain is! (More importantly, how is "marxist.com" considered a credible source to put on Yahoo! News? If they make the cut, shouldn't Snapped Shot?)

Update 13:48 EST: Disturbingly Yellow has a rather humorous take on these events.

Those dastardly Zionists!

Fair and balanced, AP-style.
It's that time of year again. Ramadan is upon us, which means it's time for the press to pull out all the stops in their propaganda offensive against Israel the Zionist Oppressors. In light of that, we are treated to new scenes of a "market" in Hebron which is being "patrolled" by the IDF the dastardly, child-murdering Zionist military forces.

Don't expect to see any balance here. These pictures are all about making Israel looking bad, and inflaming the passions of the Arab street. Nothing less, nothing more.

After all, there is nothing more important than fanning the flames of Arab RAGE, right...?

What, you expected a news agency to report the news? They can't be bothered with that. They're too busy inventing it! Continue reading »

Distinct symbolism

Caged imams?
Ah, it's so refreshing when one sees a series of photographs distinctly framed with the intent of inflaming anger. Take this series of photographs, for instance. Ordinarily, you can find our press far behind enemy lines, offering aid and comfort to the enemy. In this series, however, we see our able fauxtographers carefully positioned with the Israelis. Their intent? Well, how about I just let the photographs speak for themselves.

Crocodile tears

Crocodile tears.
This morning, we're treated to reports of yet another "Zionist massacre," this time in Bethlehem. As is usual, it was quickly followed by a media-driven, openly wailing funeral.

The one question that nobody in the press sees fit to ask?

"Why was this boy hanging around with armed terrorists?"

No surprise, as usual. Will the press ever question its role as shameless propagandists for terrorist groups?

Check the full article for the entire photo sequence, including additional illustrations of Palestinian human shields in action. Continue reading »
