Hamas Does Public Relations

Why bother hiring your own PR firm, which would mean having to spend your easy-earned dollars, when you can just use the largest "news" agencies in the world as your advertising firm, free of charge?

The Associated Press doesn't seem to mind being used in the least.

Agence France-Presse seems to surrender to their every whim.

But Reuters, of all, seems to be the most adept at meeting today's terrorist group's needs, serving up photos that are worthy of gracing any terrorist's den.

Notice that not a single one of those photographs is original. In other words, the agency photographers are doing nothing more than taking the pictures that the terrorists are ordering them to take.

Once again, I'm left to wonder why it is that the largest news organizations in the world have become content with being nothing more than the unpaid public relations arms of the world's terrorist regimes.

Of course, judging by the fact that all of these agencies' revenues are collapsing due to declining readership—Yeah, the public notices that y'all aren't actually delivering any news—maybe it's time these companies start charging Hamas for their services.

Update: It would seem that all P.R. work is not equal.

Can you guess what kind of P.R. work the Associated Press hates?

Hamas has apparently issued a call for photographers to come and "observe" its smuggling operations underneath the Rafah crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt. Despite the fact that such an operation is in flagrant violation of international law, a handful of stringers do appear to have heeded the call, and as such, have provided us with a propagandists' view of the Hamas humanitarian corps. Proper Funeral Attire

Here's yet another shining example of culture from the Palestinian terror-tories, in which an Islamic Jihad militant displays the latest in funeral fashion for audiences worldwide:

A Palestinian militant of the Islamic Jihad attends the funeral of three comrades in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza Strip, on June 16, 2008. Israeli troops killed three Palestinian fighters who were trying to plant explosives at the border between the Gaza Strip and Israel, according to the Islamic Jihad movement and an Israeli army spokesman. Of course, perhaps my Magic Sarcasm Generator is working a bit too hard lately.

In all seriousness, is Agence France-Presse really trying to pass this off as a "news" photograph? Or could it be that they are vying to become the next official source of Hamas propaganda?

So Peaceful, So Serene

As long as the Palestinian people continue to teach their children that scenes like this are normal:

A Palestinian boy rides his bicycle past graffiti showing three rockets in Gaza City. An Israeli air strike killed three members of the same family, including a teenager, in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday in what the army called an error, one day after the deadliest day of violence in the territory for more than a year. Their offspring will continue to be the hate-filled monsters like this:

That grow up and become grownup monsters like this:

It's simple, really. If you think for one second that Israel is to blame for the lack of peace in the middle east, you are really out of touch with reality.

A Simple Explanation

Here's how people get hurt in the "occupied" Palestinian territories:

A member of the Fatah force takes up position with a rocket propelled grenade during clashes with Hamas militants at Rafah camp in the southern Gaza Strip June 7, 2007. Rival Hamas and Fatah forces clashed in the Gaza Strip, killing at least one person and injuring 12 others, in the worst flare-up of factional fighting in almost three weeks. REUTERS/Ibraheem Abu Mustafa (GAZA)

Notice the proximity of this "militant" to a residential area? All of the photos I've seen so far are fairly close-cropped, so it's not clear whether there are any civilians milling about, but as we've seen before, there usually are. (With thanks to Yishai for the link!)

I'll be tracking the rest of the photos related to this latest bout of "factional" fighting. It will truly be interesting to see which group our various photographers embed themselves with. I'll be keeping a scoreboard beyond the fold, if you want to play along at home! Continue reading »

Bringing Glory to Thug(ette)s

The press is completely disgracing itself in its continual attempts to support the Intifada. Check out this delightful piece of propaganda:

Palestinian female militants of the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, linked with Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas' secular Fatah party, pose for journalists at Rafah refugee camp, in the southern Gaza Strip. Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas called for a halt to rocket fire and a truce with Israel on Thursday after the army seized 33 senior Hamas figures in the latest crackdown aimed at stopping the Gaza salvos.(AFP/Said Khatib)

It's almost as if we're looking at some twisted version of
Charlie's Mahmud's Angels or something.

Nice Ceasefire!

Don't worry yourselves, it's only a mere "gunbattle". If the Israeli Defence Forces were part of it, I'm sure the editorial boards would've inserted far more weeping and gnashing of teeth into the storyline. As it is, this is a mere "event," barely worth a mention.

(It also should be noted that the only people taking the "truce" between Hamas and Fatah seriously either work for the State Department, or for the press. Which speaks quite a bit to the utter lack of intelligence found in both groups!)

A Palestinian girl runs for cover as gunmen from Hamas take position during a gunbattle between Hamas and Fatah militants in the West Bank city of Nablus, Friday, Dec. 22, 2006. Ferocious gunbattles broke out between Hamas and Fatah militants in the Gaza Strip and West Bank early Friday, underscoring the fragility of a new truce between the rival factions.(AP Photo/Majdi Mohammed)

It's nice to know that Palestinians use their citizens as shields even amongst themselves... I really do feel sorry for the girl in the picture above, other than for the fact that Palestinian society has put themselves in this situation, by breeding nothing but hatred and violence for the past 3 decades.

To lighten things up, I've got more pictures of this wonderfully-executed cease-fire following the break, so brace yourselves for a healthy dose of fun!

Update: Agence France-Presse wins the Most Ironic Caption contest, with this doozy: A civilian has died overnight in Gaza in clashes between Hamas and a powerful local clan, but otherwise a truce aimed at halting violence between rival Palestinian factions held for a third day.

"Other than that, how was the play, Mrs. Lincoln?"

Truly the depth of mental acumen. Of course, if this civilian were killed by Israelis, we would have had a massive funeral already, covered by all of the wire services, and we would've been treated to repeated mentions of the civilian's name, age, and any other touching details that the press can conjure up. But, since the victim was killed by a Protected Oppressed People, we're denied such insight. I guess there's no journalistic style book entry for fratricide, huh? Continue reading »

The incredible once-burning cars

Confederate Yankee has pointed out what he claims is a car mystically re-igniting itself after being "blowed up," in Looney Toons parlance, by those dastardly Israelis.

I think the re-ignition is probably nothing more sinister than a combination of an acetylene blowtorch and leaking gasoline. Or some other spark (smoking being a favorite hobby over there).

It is definitely curious to see grown men rolling over a car, for no apparent reason than to roll it over. Is it as common a cultural practice to mourn the automotive dead as it is to parade around dead humans, in the Arab world? Inquiring minds certainly want to know. Continue reading »
