(Got a long way to go...)

Wait, What?

I think I slept through all of the morning news today. Or, to be more precise, I read it all, but haven't really had much to say about any of it.

To make up for my silence, here're some of the stories that stand out this afternoon:

* The saddest happy thing you'll read in a while

* And conversely, the happiest sad thing you'll read. Or funniest.

* The Democrats are crowing over a healthcare "reform" bill that will ultimately cost $1.8 trillion dollars over ten years. Meanwhile, on the sane side of politics, the Senate Republicans have announced their plan, which the CBO's director—wait, he has a blog?—says will "cost" a mere $68 billion over the same period.

(It's a no-brainer to me, but then again, we're the only side of the aisle that actually has any.)

* Our Government, The Landlord. With luck, they'll do as good a job of it as Al Gore did...

* Looks like Government Motors will be keeping Opel after all. Considering the fact that Opel has been the only part of GM that's actually been designing cars over the past 10 years, this is the first thing they've done that really does make sense.

* Toyota, Flickr Photo Thieves.

* The British Government still hates commoners. Criminals, on the other hand...

* The Washington Post explains how the McDonnell campaign escaped a trap... created by the Washington Post! (We've gone well beyond being a "part" of the story here. But hey, what newspaper shouldn't be in the business of inventing stories out of whole cloth?)

And finally,

* The Obama's interesting double-standards on releasing "personal" information.
